Stay at home mom working?

Hi all,


I work fulltime and my partner is a stay at home mom to 2 kids (youngest is 2yo).



We just about cut even rarely and commonly go into the overdraft at other times (maybe that's just what happens when you have kids? )



I was wondering if any moms/families here know if it is worth the partner going back to work financially ie if the stay at home mom worked a few hours is it worth it for the benefits removed etc?

My partner is up for doing so but we don't know if it is worth (financially) the extra pain of trying to cram work in around us alternating who's having the kids (babysitters) etc.


I know there are sites like entitled to but I always seem to get it confused or wrong when trying to go through it.


Any advice is greatly appreciated. I just don't know if this is commonplace or whether we are going about it wrong.

You might be better off while the children are still young, living on one wage and spending a bit of time budgetting and improving your housekeeping skills.

Hi I'm new to this site an have no idea how to post a new post if you know what I mean? ��
I've set up an ironing business october2018, so I'm sure to start filling in tax return I've no idea what I can claim for as people say I can claim flat rates for milage, fuel, electric etc but I've no idea . Do anyone know where I start ? Much needed help thank you.

Try the Cutting Tax part of the forum. There are accountants on there who may be able to point you in the right direction.

Personally, I stayed at home with my second child, working as a freelancer. I enjoyed it a lot, as I could look after my baby and work at the same time. Moreover, my husband could work with no problems
