Nationwide e-Bond reduced from 6.70 to 6.50

I don't quite understand why you don't understand this decision by Nationwide, when you actually explain their decision in your own post.free4440273 wrote: »I always like to praise NW (and I still do) but I can't understand this decision
Only last week I was thinking of opening up an e-bond at 6.70. I probably still will do so at this new rate of 6.50 but it's not as if the BofE have cut rates (yes, I know we can all quote swap rates ad infinitum:rolleyes:). Luckily, I have two LFRBonds at 6.70 so no real damage done. Yes, I agree i can look 'elsewhere': but NW always treat me right and i find them always convenient.
Have a really good weekend folks:wave:
Fixed rate bonds are priced on the basis of swap rates. Swap rates have fallen like a stone recently. Therefore any bank/building society offering the same fixed rate on a bond as a month or so ago is losing more money / making less money.
6.70% (or even 6.90%) is definitely a loss-making rate right now.0 -
