Scottish Power boiler care

Hi,

I am having problems with my Scottish Power boiler care cover.

Basically my boiler broke down and after changing their stories a few times I've been told it's beyond economical repair and they are not going to help me fix this or with any financial help and they will just cancel my contract that I've paid for over 4 years with them, and that's it!

I now know Scottish Power joined up with D&G insurance in March 2018 but I was never told this or got any letter/phone call, I only found out this during my phone calls to try and get my boiler fixed.

Anyway I have been going through the terms & conditions on the website and from April 2018 the policy for what I renewed in December 2017 the terms have changed to offer customers up to £750 for a new boiler if they can't fix this. I can't see this in the terms and conditions before this for when I renewed last year.

Should I automatically move over to the new terms and conditions from April 2018 and should I be entitled to the offer of up to £750 for a new boiler?

Scottish Power have been terrible in their lack of customer service towards me, this is the first time I've had an issue and it's like they don't care. I am still without hot water or heating a week after the issue and I am being passed around the 3 companies involved but no one is helping at all.

Whatever happens I now know not to take these policies as they are a rip off!

Thanks,
John

Someone else recently posted here about D&G. I suggested they get someone else to repair the boiler, then sue D&G. Suggest you do the same.

I'm really sorry for your boiler troubles, John, more so that it's only made worse for having to hope for Scottish Power to help.

I don't have the same pressing need for a repair as you do, however my own tour of their bizarre and useless customer service operations is ongoing. Two simple requests have resulted in numerous telephone calls, agents who openly admit to not knowing how to help me and instead ask me to redial, presumably hoping that I/they get lucky when I'm put through to a different "adviser".

I've since tried an email, presumably written by someone who didn't read or understand it. I would call it a scripted reply but for the appalling English used.

A second voice of warning to anyone considering joining SP/D&G before winter.

    Good luck, John!
