Palma car hire advice - are these good options..?

We are looking for car hire that will accept debit card or cash as the payment as the only driver does not have a credit card (typically required), although others do have credit cards, they wont be the driver...

The two options we have found are both around €170 --

Option 1 is to go with SIXT and get insurance from an external provider as theirs is very expensive. We are looking at options through 'Money Maxim' as suggested on MSE.

Option 2 is VANRELL, who take no deposit and can provide a basic 'comfort' insurance for €35, that covers against scratches, wing mirror damage etc. OR we could go for VANRELL with the same external insurance as we'd use with SIXT.

Does anyone have experience with either of these companies in Palma?
How easy is it to deal with SIXT if there are problems and you have external insurance?
Is it better to go all inclusive with VANRELL and also avoid any deposit being taken?
What is it like picking up/ returning cars with these companies at Palma airport?

Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated!

You can also try 89Transfers they are excellent and cheaper than most.I booked online, they could maybe take you if you just turn up at the Palma de Mallorca. Palma is a very large busy airport so personally, I would suggest you to use Taxi Alcudia, As You could not in a long wait with TaxiAlcudia. They have a user friendly website as well. so you would use it for better convenience.
If you want then check it out here on 89transfers.com

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm actually looking for car hire and not taxis though.

    Any other advice?

Book the cheapest and make sure you cover your excess separately.

Then refuse every single hard sell at the desk and video every inch of the car. Make sure they know you're videoing every inch too.

Can the credit card holder drive? If so, you'll get a wider choice if you use a company with a free additional driver.

They don't have to drive, just have a licence and the credit card to rent the car, the additional driver drives.
    Evolution, not revolution

Oh. I see what you mean. Yes, that could work. Most seem to not have a free additional driver option though.

We are liking these two options - anyone have any pros or cons about one or other of the companies?

    Thanks.
