Easyjet flight has assigned me Legroom seats at no extra charge

Hi All
I did online check-in (Group of 5) on easyjet. Flight leaves in 9 days. To my surprise we have all been allocated extra leg room seats. Could this be an error? If paying in advance each seat is worth £21.49
Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining - just surprised I was automatically assigned these rather than others.
Does this happen from time to time then?

Well all flights need to have people sitting in the emergency seats so if no one has pre booked them they will assign the seats on check in for freeLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

Enjoy them! And just think everyone trailing past you will think you've shelled out for them!:D0

Perhaps your flight is being operated by a new very long A321 aircraft with more exit seats.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

On easyJet the unsold seats are allocated to passengers who are checking in without paying for seats in the following order:
Standard seats, rear couple of rows last >> over wing exit row seats (extra legroom) >> 'Up Front' seats >> front row seats.
I have observed this because I always wait to check in when there are only Up Front seats left, if possible, usually just a few hours before departure. Although it risks the danger of forgetting to check in before it's too late, 90% of the time I succeed in getting the Up Front seat without paying, so that I can comfortably be the last to board with under-seat bag and one of the first off on arrival.
On Friday I failed and was allocated one of the extra legroom seats, which were not filled - I dislike them because of having to stow my bag overhead instead of under-seat, so risk the bins being full when boarding late.Evolution, not revolution0 -

yes that makes sense - I better try not to board too late...lol0 -
Is there not a possibility that the OP could find their seats being changed in the 9 days before travelling?0

I hope you've got long legs in order to justify your bit of luck.:)0 -

I don't know as I always reserve my favourite aisle seats at the time of booking.
Surely though, if they've allocated seats they wouldn't 'unallocate' them? Would they?:)0 -
