Can I get a credit card anywhere quickly?

I've realised I need a credit card for hiring a car abroad. But I don't have a credit card.
Is there anywhere I can get one in a couple of days?

Oh! I knew they did debit cards because I'm going to try and get one for the holiday as it's better than using my TSB debit card. But they do credit cards too?

I'm now wondering if I need to bother getting the bank account with them. Could I just use the credit card and pay it all off when I get back a week later...?

Probably, but on the other hand if you intend to pay back that quick, is just the debit card just as good, possibly slightly better in case you might also withdraw some cash?

    (edit: assuming in Europe)

I need the credit card for car hire. Most don't take debit cards and I don't have another credit card. But I could potentially get both and use the debit card to withdraw cash of needed.

    (and yes - Spain)

I've also just read that some car hire places only take credit cards with raised numbers and lettering on the card. Are the Metro Bank cards like that or...?

No idea about the numbers, maybe pop into your local metro bank or call them up and ask them...or use a hire company that does accept flat cards - there must be more than one you can use.

Metro bank cards have raised numbers so will be accepted.

It's your only choice really needing one in just a few days.
