Exactly? What kind of reply is that... jeez!
I'm not being funny at all but why even write that? If you agree with the above post the please see my reply to that user and it my apply to you, too.
As I quoted Undervalued's post, it was rather obvious I was agreeing with it. I am a former Civil Servant and the CS has their way of working which you either accept or go elsewhereIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I have friends who apply for jobs in retail, hospitality, editing and they can move jobs quickly and efficiently, waiting months and months on end is a disaster and isn't there some stats around saying people are only 2-3 months jobless are at risk of homelessness?
But they will reach a point when a screening company or similar won't take their background serious for a serious job, that's the risk. (((Honestly.))) when their bad choices will hit them as serious as failing a credit check.
Example - when you've had two rather fixed home addresses in last decade, lots of jobs then don't go down well
I know someone who's got stuck between 2 jobs and wishing the ground would just open up..
Interview for 'serious' job followed by 'job filler' next day who made an instant decision during interview that wasn't even on the work premises... So you think waiting for background checks is scary
As unemployed they literally have to start next working day, then day after that they start hearing about serious job interview outcome...
the next couple weeks they go through screening, it's to risky to leave filler employer esp when chances were good they could get paid. It gets to the point where serious job supply contract without screening complete as they need said person to go to meet and greet (serious company's deter from working as literally quite random) as it happens this then puts said person in a really tough position with having to miss time of work (which they haven't even yet had a paycheque for so you can imagine the risk posed) and when they speak to 'filler' employer, as they want to do right thing, they find themselves begged to stay as everything happens at the wrong time.
Try not to get frustrated. Would you rather a contract where you've definitely passed or only half. Similar to your other thread on references - would you rather someone got important facts wrong when replying in a hurry.
My mate has clocked up over 3 weeks of working with no idea if payday will come without applying through for court help, so it could be worse.0 -
Hello,
The recruitment process in government/health seriously need looking at and the length of time it takes. I am a regular user but i wish to remain seperate from my other username.
1. Application for job
2. Attend interview
3. Await outcome 1-2 weeks
4. Apply for DBS - anytime up to 3 month (yes i'm aware of update service, but you need an inital DBS first)
5. Await references to come back 1-2 weeks
6. Meet with employer to provide evidence of qualifications/scannig etc. - Anytime
7. Await all to be signed off and varified - Anytime
8. Await a start date.
Anyone ele have experience of witing 2,3,4,5 month to start a job after being offered a role?? It is absurd.
In my interviews 6 was done at the same time as 2.0 -
My last employer turned around the DBS clearance in a week.
Sadly the job was not what I expected and I didn't last two months there.
In recent jobs my DBS/background check has been done in around 48 hours. I don't know about government work but in the private sector this is usually done by an agency such as HireRight or BackCheck.0 -

The process sounds long-winded and bureaucratic.
If long-winded and bureaucratic gets up your nose as much as it seems from your post then why on earth are you applying for jobs in the public sector?"When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -
Frankly, I don't want healthcare staff looking after me that haven't had thorough background checks.0

In my last NHS job we had to repeat a recruitment exercise three times because candidates had taken other employment by the time our HR got round to sorting all the admin. The quality of the candidates dropped each time.0

Sadly it's the kind of welcome you often get on here as a newbie. You see it all the time. I hope it hasn't put you off posting again.0 -
