Hi,

Whats the correct procedure to remove sorn from car?

Is it insurance first then mot?
Or mot first then insurance?
Or tax first then mot?
Or insurance first then tax?
I can go on and on with the list as you can see as its really confusing.

Can a driver buy road tax online without mot but insurance is there?

The last thing i want is computers saying no lol.

It's obvious, you need it insured to use on the road, would you be content if someone injured you or your loved one in an RTA and wasn't 3rd party insured?
You know you won't get VED without MOT (where applicable), so get the vehicle insured, then you can take it for an MOT and get the required VED straight away.

You have to pre-book the MOT to ba able to drive there wthout VED.

Not totally obvious, as a garage could collect and do MOT.

    Tax it. That simple.

    But... to buy the tax...
Is it insurance first then mot?

    Or mot first then insurance?

MOT is checked automatically when you buy tax.
Insurance is not checked on purchase of tax, but is checked constantly while the car is taxed - it needs to be insured all the time it's taxed.

You can drive an untaxed car to an MOT, but you cannot drive an uninsured one.

Insurance does not care about tax or MOT.

    So...
Insure, then drive to MOT. Finally, tax.

How long have you been driving?
Nothing is confusing, you need insurance & MOT to tax.
So you only need to work out from two items.
you surely know you need insurance to go on the road,so.....

Insurance is no longer checked when taxing a car and hasn't been for 3 years or so.

    OP made it confusing;

To remove SORN status from an MOT'd car - Pay the VED - you cant drive it till its insured so insure it too.
To remove SORN status from an unMOT'd car - insure it, book an MOT, drive to garage, get MOT, Pay the VED.
Third option would be to register it to someone else/sell it.

    Car passed MOT yesterday.

.gov website saying now No MOT status on car and can take 5 days for MOT status to update.

Ok the $64000 question is if govt website/computer saying no mot then how the hell do I buy road tax online now when the mot database computer will say no to the tax computer?

In this age of computers and technology its crazy waiting for 5 days. I have better chance of getting a 2nd class letter being delivered faster than that.
