MK1 Ford Focus 1.6 sump plug torque setting?

But can you reliably use a torque setting on oily threads? You'd have to drastically reduce the manufacturer's specified torque setting which is for dry threads. I under-torque them so as not to damage the threads but use Loctite blue thread locker on the plug threads so it won't undo by vibration.0

I've always tightened up sump plugs with a normal spanner - never used a torque wrench on one, and never had any leak problems or had one drop out.0

Agree with TonyMMM. 2 to 2.5 white knuckles.on a half inch drive ratchet, or about 3.25 WK on a 3/8 drive.0

If you tighten the sump plug only hand tight you are going to lose your sump plug and your oil, followed by your engine!
I think someone is getting confused with the oil filter.
15-20 ib/ft should be ok.
I have never lost a sump plug or my oil or my engine.
I meant hand tight with a spanner . a hand ground/ shaped one, by my dad, decades ago
No not confused at all0
