Old Style Daily Monday 20th August 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
I’m going to go and visit the lady who was my mums’ closest friend in the care home today. It is her birthday and a couple of other people who were neighbours of them will be there as well. I need to make a cake to take with me. She has asked for lemon drizzle so while I am doing it I will make one for my freezer as well.
Thankfully the washing is all up to date, and there isn’t too much that needs doing around the house.
I will have to go out as soon as the pharmacy opens because they didn’t have one of the medications I am on in when I collected my prescription last week and I need to take it this morning.
RR it must seem really strange without your DD at home, hopefully you will quickly adjust. Enjoy your two weeks off.
Gers so pleased that your mum is doing so well. Enjoy being in your own home, there is nothing quite like being in your own bed.
Csarina it’s good that you managed ok yesterday without the carer, and worked out a way to get your OH up and dressed.
TA thinking of you and your family xx
Thinking of all of you who are having difficult times right now xx
Have as good a day as possible everyone.0 -

Morning folks. I'm still reading along when I can but don't feel up to posting so much these days. Mr TA now far from well and life is a struggle for us both. I will be glad when I hear from the Macmillan nurses. The doctor at the hospital said I should hear within a few days.
The usual mountain of washing is to throw in the wm next job but not sure it will get pegged out as it looks none too promising out there. Mr TA usually stays in bed until about 9.00 then it's the usual bed bath to freshen him up before I get him dressed and another day starts. It was a visitor free day yesterday but BIL is calling today and I think my DB too.
Enjoy your day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he's going to catch a lift with me and go to the gym.
Lunch yesterday ended up being a naughty chicken and chips from the famous red chicken shed, not ideal, but was the best we could do at short notice. Dinner tonight will be roasted chicken portions, mash, veg and gravy.
We went to visit my parents and called in on DH's grandad, they were all ok, the weather wasn't great very breezy and there was a bad accident that closed the main route in and out which was going to cause mahem once people started to leave - so we decided not to get some lunch there and come home and get food - which was the right decision as we were using the diversion route the travel news came on and there had then been an accident on the only other diversion route and that was closed - luckily we were past there and nearly home by that time.
Back to work today, that sounds like a nightmare also, as I know there's some issues with money not balancing as friend got in touch on Friday - I'll do what I can.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone.
TA - please ask for help from social services, that's what they are there for. Someone to help wash and dress your beloved OH will also help you. Hugs to you both.
Last night I was asleep by 7.30pm and only woke a few minutes ago. Didn't stir!
Today I'm going into college to start serious work prep. My cleaner is coming so I like to be out of the way for. No washing to be done. I've sorted a packed lunch and am feeling fairly virtuous.
Happy Monday folks.0 -
Morning All
Such a difficult time for you TA.
I had a good weekend, DS1 and the children came on Saturday and stayed until after lunch yesterday, those two children don't give you a minute! The house was a total tip but it was worth it, I had a ball! We had a complimentary ticket to the Aquarium and went yesterday, it was good but so small, would have been really angry if I had paid nearly £40 for us all.
Most of the house is tidy but there is a huge washing mountain to get through this week, the weather isn't too good so it will all have to dry inside.
Happy Monday, take care. xX0 -
Morning all,
Hugs to TA and her loved ones, as others have said please take care of you as well and fingers crossed Macmillan come through soon x
Not masses planned for today, bit of work this morning and then over to see Lu later. DOH was at the test match yesterday with his lads and stayed over so will be home at some point. Tea will be a freezer dive.
Have a good day folks x0 -
