Today, I've started a couple of claims through resolver - I don't think they'll come to anything, but I'm giving it a go anyway.

I did this a couple of weeks ago and to be honest didn't really think I'd get anything. Got a letter last week rejecting PPI claim but I was refunded £224.47 due to the Plevin ruling. So you never know.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Hi Purplemum, thank you.

Hi Toni'sfriend, thank you for that - I'll keep my fingers crossed and put a few more claims in on the off chance (I've had a lot of credit over the years )

I was tired yesterday and really had to force myself to do something for the challenge, so entered a few competitions and freebies and did two surveys. I'm dreadful for reading about things to do and bookmarking, and then never actually doing anything, so part of this challenge is to get on and do it.

I'm off work today, so have no excuses.
  • During the last four days I have been a bit more focused on money making. I've done some surveys every day and signed up to another site. I've got a list of all the things to do daily/regularly and I'll try to work through my list every day in an organised way.

As payday's nearly here, I've decided to go cash only for the next month. I seem to have got into a bit of a 'bargain shopping' habit, for cashback or with a voucher code, or for extra points. Any excuse really :) But this month I'm drawing out the cash, and I can use that and any vouchers or points I've got, but no cards. Not sure if I've got the willpower for this, but fingers crossed.

  • Just popping in to remind myself of my 100 day challenge and that today is day 24. 100 days seems such a long time, but I don't know where the last couple of weeks has gone.

I'm still trying to use cash only, but have caved and used my card online for a couple of 'bargains'. They were mostly things that were needed and I've used a cashback site, but still, must try harder.

Started another claim through resolver and still have some more to go, so fingers crossed.

Still ploughing through daily make extra money list, but probably could do more of this, and also need some more ideas.
  • So, I'm heading into the final month of this personal 100 day challenge. To be honest I've sort of drifted off in the middle of this and at the moment, I'm feeling a bit demoralised.

To have enough to clear all debt by the end of June I need £1200. I need a lot of luck to find that sort of money in a month, although you never know :)

I'm going to try and refocus on this challenge for the next month, otherwise I'm in danger of giving up and making things worse. If there's no emergency (and no splurgency!), I'll definitely have enough by the end of July anyway, so the last thing I want to do is give up now and go back to old ways.

Re-focus plan for the next month is

    1. £50 cash budget plus any vouchers, points etc for everything except usual bills and transport for the month. I have plenty in the cupboards and freezer, and don't have any social plans, so this part should be ok.

    2. Dry June  Not an official challenge, but my spending diary is showing how much money is actually going on wine :eek: So alcohol-free it is for a while.

    3. Money-making as much as possible - sell, reclaim, surveys, competitions, anything money-making I'm saying yes to. Recently I've been a bit "it's not worth it", but none of that this month.

    4. Keep up my spirits so I don't get fed up and give up :)

  • I've paid off two debts this week.

Things are so much better than when I started this diary - I can afford the minimum payments, everything's going out on time and there's money left for living. There's no payday juggling anymore. I thought I would leave the debts to tick over for a while and get some money together, but I can't push them to the back of my mind anymore. I need them gone, all gone!

So, £2889 to go and fingers crossed for no emergencies
  • Well done BLN :D x
  • Popping in with an update.

I've only got one debt these days and at the end of June I paid the minimum payment. The plan was to keep the money in the bank until I had enough to pay the rest off in one go and in the meantime this would be my emergency fund.

Yesterday, I was looking at my bank balance, and adding on what it would be in a couple of weeks when I get paid, and it looked fantastic to have money in the bank. So then, I thought, maybe I should just let the loan run on minimum payments for a while (interest is already added on and minimum payment is easily manageable), and I could build up some savings.

I thought this was probably the most sensible thing to do, and still do, but I couldn't shake off a sort of tightening in my shoulders when I thought about this loan running on and on, even if it was manageable, so I paid off nearly all the money I had in my account

I've woken up today with a sort of "spending hangover" except I've just paid for a load of stuff I bought "I don't know how long ago"!

The good news is now total debt is £1216; the bad news is there's nothing left if something happens, which causes me as much stress as the debt.

This morning, I've already started the conversation in my head about what to do on payday, pay debt or keep money for emergency. The sensible thing to do would be .........:undecided

At least paying it off would stop this mental chatter.

Off to try and make some money for an emergency fund :)

  • Payday's here. I didn't think too much about it, just paid off the rest of the last loan.

    I'm debt free :j:j:j:j

I've got about £300 to my name when all the bills are paid, so even that's an improvement on this time last year. I do need to work on an emergency fund, but I'm having a day or two to just let the debt-free thing sink in :D

Well done on becoming debt free. You have your whole life ahead of you now to make the most of your money without having to spend it on debt repayments. You will soon have an emergency fund behind you and then you can really start to choose how you will spend your money. Good luck with your plans.
