Bent iPhone 6

My daughter bought a iPhone 6 through my very account in march 2018
All was great with the phone until July when my daughter showed me a slight Bend in the phone even though it's in a hard backed case
Last week she showed me that the glass on the bottom right corner is lifting away from the phone , her battery is dying quicker to the point she is charging it fully three times a day and her earphones no longer work
I got her an appointment with the Apple Store, the customer service girl was great very sympathiec however the manager came over looked at it says it's been in my daughters back pocket and that because of this the warranty is now void, the phone can't be fixed and I'll need to pay £299 to replace it ...........a phone should not bend. The customer service girl apologised and stated she didn't agree with the decision but her hands were tied
I've read on which.co.uk that within six months of buying the product it's up to the retailer to prove the goods were of satisfactory quality rather than the consumer having to show they weren't ........can anyone clarify this please
I'm now £379 out of pocket for a broken paperweight that is only 5 months old
Much appreciated xx

Anything will bend if enough force is applied to it, the question is what is enough? When the iPhone 6/6 Plus came out there were reports that the 6 Plus particularily was prone to bending, e.g.: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/11184851/iPhone-6-owners-demand-answers-on-bendgate.html
However that 4 years ago and not much happened, and Apple never admitted there was a problem. Why did you purchase a 4 year old model anyway? It is likely to be outdated (i.e. unable to receive updates) probably in a year or so.0 -

Because I can't afford to buy a 15 year old a brand new up to date phone and she was happy with the iPhone 6
The Apple Store manager said that they never acknowledged the iPhone 6 bending so if they don't acknowledge it it never existedNEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.050 -
Phones dont just bend on their own, there must have been some force applied. How do you know she has never sat on it?
You are right that in the first 6 months the onus is on the retailer.....but in your case that is very, not Apple. Have you approached very?0 -

Teenagers are prone to telling fibs now and again.
How realistic is it to say it bent on it's own.0 -
You go back to the vendor if you want to invoke Consumer Rights .
<I've read on which.co.uk that within six months of buying the product it's up to the retailer to prove the goods were of satisfactory quality rather than the consumer having to show they weren't ........can anyone clarify this please >
Correct .
But probably the same outcome its user damage .
Basically a phone does not just bend .
A phone in a trouser pocket that is sat upon could easily bend .0 -
You should check out Louis Rossmanns youtube channel (as a new user i cant post the link to his channel... Stupid security... Anyway Go to Youtube and search Louis Rossmann)
Hes am unauthorised apple repair man who has lots of very good rants and reasons why you shouldnt buy apple products.... Its seriously educational...
Hes mentioned that Apple do the back pocket bend "clause" to not replace apple phones as a matter of company policy. Even when there wasnt any physical bending.
There has in fact been many cases where Iphones would bend under the very slight pressure of being in a front pocket when walking...
Simply put the phones are NOT fit for purpose and there has been some consumer challenges (in america) against apple and these faults.
You are in a tough place though. Without any legal argument and lawer backing (which all costs money) it would be very hard to convince the apple shop to replace this.
Even though you are probably well within your consumer rights to do so.
This sadly is not new, and apple get away with it all the time. Because people keep buying crappy apple products.0
