Replacement handset only option??
Hi
My son had his O2 contract handset stolen on holiday. Insurance company refused to pay up as he left it unattended by side of pool (small print issue as discussed in similar threads earlier)
O2 provided new sim, I gave him my old Nokia, which worked OK til yesterday when it gave up the ghost completely.
I guess my only option is for him to buy a new handset, as cheaply as possible. Does anyone have any ideas on what/where or any other options please.
Thanks
Bani

Think the cheapest PAYG - is the Nokia 1100 - see here.

If you want a higher end phone - buy one from Ebay - Nokia 3510i and 3100 go for £20 - £35.
If you want an all singing all dancing camera phone - you'll get these cheap on a contract with cashback. This may sound expensive - but say a Nokia 6230i could cost you £90 for a year and you could sell it for a £100 possibly in a year's time. Plus you get 150 mins thrown in. Just have to stump up £10 for the first three months then £27pcm.
Depends on the usage - if just an odd user PAYG is cheaper but anything over 100 xnet and its better to go for a contract.0 -
I think the nokia 1100 link should be http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=53624&page=1&pp=10
It takes you to the first page.

Thanks for the pointers. I'll probably go for a refurbished one for the rest of the contract.
One lesson to learn is that holiday insurance isn't worth much for mobiles unless you want to take them swimming with you!
Thanks
