  • After a very disjointed month I have managed to tally up and I am surprised that I came in under budget, just! (£192.26/£200) More by luck than anything.

I will try and join in more on October’s thread as holidays are now over and hopefully back to routine.

    January 2025 Grocery Challenge: £220.00/£59.47
January 2025 NSD: 0/30 (unplanned spending)

Went town to get my currency I had ordered, spent £5 in wilko stocked up ibuprofen and some glucosamine caps, as knee hurting now without walking miles in Budapest.
£13 in home bargains 2 coffee, 4 chewing gum and some gel for knee.
£15 in tesco on enough chicken thighs to last dog until mid Nov, cooking 20 now to freeze separate for kennels.
So £33 in total, so way over budget I dont care anymore, but Oct and Nov will both be 3 week months for budget.
Do I need it or just want it.
  • £19.48 to add.. May need a couple of things, yet not much so I'm overjoyed at I've come in so far under budget this month.. I shall be reducing next months budget back to £300 and see how it goes :)

  • Hello from the Netherlands! We arrived yesterday afternoon and have been kind of going nonstop since then. That's more so because this is a working vacation for both of us. We've both had meetings, deadlines, etc, but just in a different city.

Yesterday I bought €8.84 of train snacks at Delhaize and that was my last spend for the month. I'll add the last 3 days of the month as NSDs into my final totals below.

    FINAL TOTALS:
    €535.62/€500.00
    13/12 NSD

What a month this has been. The party really blew out the budget and there was a lot of "wasteful" spending for it. For example, I still have 6 unopened containers of sour cream in the fridge that need using up. Those alone represent about €10 of GC money.
  • Since last post we have spent £2.66.

500g brussel sprouts, 1kg courgettes, 200g kale, 1 orange pepper, 6 red peppers and a single pack of Nairns sea salt and balsamic vinegar gluten free oat snacks for a treat.

    £192.65/£195.
    £2.35 left.

  • I've got to the end of the month! Budget was £100, I've spent £89, but that's including a celebration cake I was asked to do at short notice for a family member. It's been a stressful month with lots of stuff but I'm proud of myself. October will be harder to do on £100 as my freezer is nearly empty but I'm still struggling to get more work so here goes, good luck to me!

That's me done for September now and I've spent £6.50 this week (milk, potatoes, lunch tongue and ham slices for sandwiches) so I've managed to creep in under-budget (just) by a paltry £1.45. Still, better under than over, even if it is just a small amount! :D

Well done to everyone who's on or under budget :j . ((Hugs)) and better luck next time to those who didn't.

Hopping over to October now to record first spends - I hope to "see" everyone there. Good luck. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.
  • £327.70 for the month. A fair bit higher than I wanted but hoping for a better Oct. well done everyone x

Wrapping September £63 over, quite a chunk of that is forward shopping for my trip, so not too badly traumatised, Should be okay for October as I will be using up from fridge and away last 10 days.
Do I need it or just want it.
