Which cordless hoover please?

I'm disabled and have a Hetty hoover which is a bit ulky to pull around my one bed flat, plus the cord knocks things over. I have my eyes on four models of cordless hoover:
I'm not sure which is the best model. Can anyone advise me please?
Many thanks. :undecided
- Dyson V8 animal cordless hand stick
- Bosch BCH62562GB Athlet Cordless
- Bosch BBHL2D18GB 2 In 1 Cordless Handstick!
- Gtech AirRam MK2

Forget the g tech. Its heavy and a bit diffiicult on pile carpets
What about the Shark, ive heard good thingsmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I have a Shark Duo Clean and I love it, I haven't used my full size Dyson since I got it.
I went to Curry's and tried them all out, the thing that swung it for me is that the stalk bends so you can get right under furniture, it gets under my sofas, armchairs, beds, sideboard all right to the back without any bending, it's brilliant. Another bonus is that you can take the battery out and charge it anywhere or charge it in the vacuum, so there's no need to find a place to screw a charging station to the wall near to a plug socket. For storage it folds in half and takes up very little space in the cupboard.
I had looked at it before but was put off by the battery life time, but TBH a charge is more than enough to do the whole house, I think their advertised estimate is worse case scenario whereas some of the others are best case. I was going to buy a second battery but I've found I really don't need one.
I know it's not on your list but I would say definitely worth a look.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Would you say Dyson was lighter? I don't have pile carpets. Which is best for picking up hair?0 -
We have the V8 absolute; I was skeptical about cordless hoovers, but it's pretty good. It's quite light, and doesn't seem to have any issues on our carpets or tiled floors.
I've not tried any others.0 -
A friend of mine who is not all that strong has a Bosch Athlet she got from Costco about 3 years ago, I think it was about £160.
She thinks it's great and from what I've seen of it I'd certainly recommend it, it runs for a decent length of time and is nice and light.0 -
Either an Athlet or the V8: forget the Gtech or the Shark, both are cheaply made and won't last. The Dyson V10 has better battery life, but at a premium price.
Remember that these devices have a battery that is unlikely to last more than 2/3 years and is expensive to replace. You might consider one of the smaller mains Miele cylinders if you are looking for lower weight.
PS: it's a vacuum cleaner, not a Hoover. Sir James gets very upset if his products are called Hoovers...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
How about a robot vacuum? A flat is perfect for them.

Loved GTech so much I bought two. Didn't get on with Dyson.
GTech is not heavy to use and works fine on all my carpets.0 -
I have back problems and my wife cant hold any great weight so When I bought a cordless I looked for one where the weight was on the floor and not in the handle. Maybe this is a consideration for you. I bought a AEG 2 in 1 so I can detach the small hand held unit. I have had it for 18 month and it does the job although the bag is small but its used 3 or 4 times a week.
Still use a corded unit about every 6 weeks for a deep clean.
AEG CX7 LI-45 bought from JL when it was about £150 but now its been superceded by a new model for about £2000 -
We have a Dyson V6 Animal I think, compared to lugging our old Henry round the house it's a breeze, works great on wood or tiled floors and most carpets.
We have a thick wool carpet in the bedroom and it takes a bit more effort to get the fluffs out the carpet but the roller picks up hair well.
Downsides are it doesn't seem to pick up small stones and the battery only lasts 6 minutes on full power (about half hour on normal, our house is pretty big and manage to do it all without recharging) and I don't trust it for sucking up big spiders!
Got ours from Dyson via their eBay outlet, was refurbished so only cost £180, looked brand new when it arrived. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
