    Pretty irresponsible to

1/ NOT safeguard your pin AND
2/ NOT safe guard your wallet on the very same evening.
3/ NOT report it stolen until someone else managed to spent a TEN FIGURE sum (how does that even happen)

You should bear a large proportion of the responsibility for such gross negligence and that should be reflected by charging you with at least half the loss

I hope the same compassion is extended to you when you suffer some misfortune.

Its all common practice when investigating unauthorised transactions whatever the amount but more important when its five figures.

As others have said if you are telling the truth, and haven't exaggerated any of the facts here like the purpose of the transaction, you will be fine.

You have been refunded in lieu of the investigation but till its concluded its still reversible.

I understand you wish to change banks, I would wait till this investigation is completed before you do, just to see it through and make sure everything is closed with no strings left behind.

I do wish to know how they knew your pin number? do you have it written down with your card? or was it someone you were speaking too in this bar that was overly friendly that you just met? also I thought contactless was more common in bars now for ease of access and therefore the pin wouldn't have been used....

Hopefully the investigation is concluded in your favour and you can move on and learn from this incident and be more vigilant with your pin and card, (maybe worth changing your pin so less easy to be guessed (if its a pattern on the keypad, as many shoulder surfers don't need to be be that close to you know to get the pin if its a pattern, or sequence.
