This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
I have been up for a couple of hours now, just messing about. My mouth is a bit uncomfortable but I've actually been in a lot of pain for some time from the cracked root and then the abcess and this pain is nowhere near as bad. Although swollen and sore, it feels as though it is healing.
A bit of a Friday Tidy today but I'm really noticing that there is a lot less to do now that I'm at home and mostly tidy as I go along - possibly my standards are a bit low as I tolerate some level of accumulation of things even though it can annoy me.
One lot of washing is done and there are 2 more loads waiting though I'll probably only do one lot as there won't be space for the entire lot to dry.
Hoping that everyone has the best day possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Friday already! Hopefully this is the day DD and BF eventually get the keys to their new house, fingers crossed.
Pleased to hear your mouth is healing AOD, salt water mouth washes should help.
Your Mum is amazing Gers!
Hope the TAs are ok and you get the help you need Csarina.
The children all managed their first day back. I, however, was an exhausted wreck at the end of the day!
Happy Friday, take care. XX
Forgot to say - Have a great holiday JackieO!0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
We have the grandchildren again today but thankfully they are not coming round till 8.30 so it is not such an early start. They are no trouble though and I love spending time with them so I am not moaning I promise
.
It was results day yesterday and Phoebe went to get hers with her friends. Unfortunately she was very upset as she did very badly in all her subjects. I am so disappointed for her as I know she tried hard but just didn't get the grades she expected. Poor kid, she went out with her friends last night to celebrate/commiserate so I haven't had a chance to talk to her properly. Lilly did not even bother to go and get her results as she has convinced herself they would be awful so she is waiting for them to be posted to her.
Happy Holidays JackieO, hope you have an amazing time on your beloved island xx
AOD, hope your mouth continues to heal quickly xx
Thinking of the TA's hope the news wasn't as bad as you feared xx
I have to do the usual fridge clean and tidy before the shopping arrives and then it is a simple ham, egg and chips for tea tonight. As for now though, I need a restorative cup of tea before the hungry hordes arrive
:D.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning folks. Just a brief one from me as feeling pretty unsociable just now. I got Mr TA home from hospital at last. The discharge described the infection as urinary sepsis. He is very tired. We also got to Leeds on Tuesday for the results appointment I had been dreading. We were fully prepared to hear bad news but hadn't anticipated just how bad this was going to be. He has lived with the rare type of cancer on his bowel and liver for over five years now with very little growth but things have suddenly changed. Increased growth with spread to the kidneys and the bones. The doctor says the only help would be chemo but she doesn't think he is well enough to go through it. We have to go back in 3 weeks and she will see how he is once he is fully over the bad infection and answer any questions we have. We were absolutely numb on Tuesday as you can imagine it was hard to take in such devastating news.
Once back at our local hospital the doctor came to see us as the Leeds doctor had already phoned the ward and explained everything to them. They have referred us to the Macmillan nurses and also reinstated the OT appointment which we had to cancel when he was first admitted. We also have an appointment to see our own GP next Tuesday who will help with pain relief. The slow release patches are helping a bit but not as well as we hoped.
The family are all devastated as you can imagine. Meanwhile we are trying to carry on as normally as we can for now but it's not easy. The peripheral neuropathy on top of this is getting worse by the day and his mobility is really bad.
So there we are and I will post as and when I feel up to it. I still find it very difficult to talk or even write about it without getting choked up. I hope everyone else is coping ok with life and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Take care all and thanks for the PM's. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Nice bright day here by the looks of it its water fun at work so will be busy, just what I need for a Friday !!
Camelot good luck to your DD for getting her keys today, mine officially gets hers today too, although they have been putting stuff in all week, they actually move in today.
We are off to a party tonight at OH work, they are usually riotous and such good fun I am very much looking forward to it :j
Might have fish and chips tonight before we go out it will be quick and easy.
Jackie have a lovely holiday I am off for two weeks after today as well.
Have good days all xx
TA crossed posted with you, I am so sorry the diagnosis was not better, my heart goes out to you both xx0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Sky clear, with some bright sunshine, dry underfoot, so have a wash load ready to go out and another in as we speak, hope it will all get line dried.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 gone to work also, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he will come with me help with the shopping then go to the gym from there. I have a nail appointment later this morning too, will be pleased to get them done, as they are a mess.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips and peas for the menfolk, I had gammon, egg, jacket potato and veg as did DS2. Tonight I'm not sure what they are having, I'll organise whilst at the SM, but I'm having fish and veg.
Yesterday didn't go to plan as the training meeting was cancelled, and rescheduled for next Thursday, so not ideal but do-able. So spent the day doing jobs - I'm quite pleased with what I got done, still lots more to do, but more achieved than I expected due to having more time.
Keep safe and well x
nmlc x
Edit - as I've just read Mrs TA's post - so sorry the news isn't good, we're here to support you and send love and virtual hugs xWEIGHTLOSS SINCE JUNE 2009 - 5 ST 2LB0 -
So sorry to hear that TA, big hugs to you.0

Morning everyone
It feels a bit warmer this morning than it did yesterday. I really noticed the sudden drop in temperature.
The forecast is for dry weather today, so as the laundry bin is full I will put a load in the washing machine in a minute and hopefully get it dry on the line.
Dinner today will be a portion of beef goulash I liberated from the bottom of the freezer yesterday evening when I was looking for something else. I thought that the freezer inventory was up to date but unfortunately not.
I will go and get the few fresh bits and pieces I need from the supermarket early this morning before it gets too busy. Fortunately I don’t need much.
JackieO have a good holiday.
TA I’m so sorry to hear that news. Thinking of you all xx
AOD I hope that your mouth isn’t too sore.0 -
Morning:)
Well fingers crossed it seems a nice clear day today....I was out soaking the pots and it seemed quite warm.
Had an interesting lunch out yesterday. Our favourite pub was pretty full and they took over an hour just to get out drink and take the order. I had ordered Scottish Smoked Salmon And Egg Open Sandwich served on toasted malted bloomer bread and topped with smoked salmon and a soft boiled egg. Served with a lemon wedge....well what arrived was a cheap piece of supermarket brown bread 2 tiny see through slivers of salmon and an egg boiled so much it was grey
no lemon in sight thats the difference between reading the menu and seeing reality I guess. Anyway we ended up with a free meal due to a few other things too. Least they sorted it but that wasn't the idea. Roll on the kids going back to school.
Dumpling the friend I was out with her daughter had her results and had pretty much failed all. She had apparently spent lots of time in her room "studying" and my friend was sure she would do OK sadly it seems she was studying the mobile phone most of the time :rotfl:she was not a happy bunny!
Doing bits day today (which has a whole different meaning if you watched Love Island
) some bits of work and some bits of a Friday Tidy. Food may well be a HM tuna and anchovy pizza (yeah I know sounds disgusting but is my all time favourite )
AOD must be a relief to have it gone
Jackiemum dont forget to bring me a stick of rock and have a lovely time
TA Usual really...thinking about you :A sorry I cross posted there ...massive hugs my friend wish I could give them for real
Have a lovely Friday all0 -

So sorry to read your news TravellingAbuela xx
The house is clean and tidy, except for miss tru's washing. She's left a large Ikea bag full of clothes in the hall, washed one load and left it in the machine. I'll have to empty it to do a load of towels but apart from that I'll be leaving it for her to sort when she gets home from work. Mr tru is usually off on fridays but he's had to go in today. I'll still have the usual Pizza Friday – it involves pizza (obviously, lol), chocolate and a film.
Master tru is having trouble getting through to HMRC so he's going to write to them to tell them about his employee leaving work in March. I think I'll print the payroll software page showing the info that was sent to them, and the page that said 'accepted by HMRC' with the timestamp. Also a copy of the P45 - again.
