Servicing a new(ish) car?

Hi,
I've just bought a 2014 Ford having previously having a 17 year old Focus. I never bothered getting my car serviced (My dad did any repairs that was needed and changed my oil and filters etc) - I had the car 7 years before it became too small for my family and had passed nearly every MOT (The ones it failed on were for minor things)
Anyway - Is it worth having the new car serviced? I'm likely to have it for a number of years without selling it (I'd have kept my old one had it of been a 5 dr instead of a 3!)
My kids are 11 and 7. I'd probably downgrade when they've flown the nest but even then you are talking at least 9 years down the line..... would it really matter if i didnt have the stamp?

So you are quite happy to drive your kids around in a car which is unserviced for 9 years, and rely on the MOT test only to pick up any safety-related faults? That's not money-saving, it's just stupidity.
Since you are now out of warranty, get it annually serviced cheaply at an independent. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If you want to keep whatever warranty (if any?) was provided, you must get it serviced using OEM parts.
I would not buy a car with no service history"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Isn't a 2014 ford aready out of warranty?
Still needs to be serviced in line with the service schedule.0 -
I'm reading this post differently....
Do you mean is it worth getting the car serviced at a garage who will stamp the book rather than have your dad do it instead?
If so as long as the service schedule is followed (which is basically oil and filters plus some visual checks each year) it doesn't really matter. If your dad's doing the work keep receipts for the parts and a note if what was done and when, a stamped service history isn't going to add much value to a 13yr old Focus.0 -

Slightly rude - Re-read the post. My dad services my car yearly (He's an ex mechanic) but as he isn't a garage it isn't stamped. I'm wondering whether its worth putting it in a garage to get it stamped. But thanks for the input.....0 -

Warranty is only for a year, doesn't run out until next year. See that's how i was looking at it, most people won't by without a service but I wouldn't be looking to sell for at least another 9 + years, it'll be an "older car" anyway so wouldn't be worth much anywayIsn't a 2014 ford aready out of warranty?

Its out of warranty with ford, I have garage warranty (1 year) - It would still be serviced regardless i just don't know whether its worth getting a garage to do it instead of dadI'm reading this post differently....

Exactly this. That's what I was thinking, It'll end up being at least 13 years old by the time I come to sell it - i doubt it would be worth much even with service stamps.0 -
If you're planning to run it until the point it's worthless (13 year old Ford will likely fall into that category), then I wouldn't bother paying for the stamps. Just get your dad to do it and as mentioned above, keep the receipts and fill in the service book as you're going. If there's any risk of you needing to sell it whilst it's still worth something, I'd look for a non-franchised local mechanic to do the service and stamp the history.0

Always worth getting them serviced. Just nice to know they've been looked at and are running optimally.0 -

If its a 1ltr ecoboost don't skimp on the oil/coolant.0 -
Oh it'll definitely be serviced, the questions more related to 'who' does it
