Problems cancelling Plusnet voicemail add-on

Has anyone had problems with this? The main reason we decided to switch to Plusnet was because we'd had a great experiernce with them previously, but they seem to have really let their customer service go down the pan.
They gave us the voicemail add-on, even though when signing-up we specified we didn't want it. A few days after finally being connected (a fortnight after we were supposed to be connected!) we realised we weren't getting voicemail on our answer-phone. I checked on the plus.net website and lo-and-behold the voicemail add-on was active. I went through the process to request the add-on be cancelled, and a banner told me that it would take three working days... A week later it still hadn't been cancelled, but it had changed from three working days to one... More than a week later still no change, so my Dad phoned customer services, and was promised it would be fixed by Tuesday (yesterday). So three weeks after requesting it be removed it's still not been removed!!
If it was just me I'd be patient and wait it out, but my Mum is hearing impaired, so she relies on the flashing red light on the answer-phone to let her know that some has phoned.
Are there any good internet/phone providers anymore? I honestly thought Plusnet was one of the good ones, but after this experience we're switching as soon as our contract is up. Problem is we've also had bad experiences with Sky and TalkTalk, so we don't have many options left
