I was over there a few weeks ago. Beer is VERY expensive. Food isn't too bad. Taxis are pretty reasonable.

    Fantastic City, though.

Maybe look for deals on things like the Singapore Flyer for one?

If you're flying Singapore Air look at the discount vouchers/booklet you get - there are some good discounts there for loads of stuff eg the hop on hop off and the flyer. Taxis are cheap but queues can be long, metro is cheap and good. As above food is cheap but beer/wine is expensive. Loads of food market type places where you can choose from lots of different food outlets and eat at common tables, these are excellent and cheap.

Singapore is a fascinating place, we spent a couple of days there in January. The best way to get taxis in Singapore is to use the 'Grab' app. The app logs your location, sends you details of the car and driver, and you pay the driver rather than through the app as Uber do. They work out at less than half the cost of metered cabs and the drivers we had were brilliant. The Metro system is also clean, safe, cheap and air-conditioned.

Lots to see there too. The best views are from the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Don't pay for the viewing platform though where you pay just for the view, use the Ce La Vi bar on the 57th floor. You still pay $20 but can use that for a cocktail in the bar at the top, and you get views in every direction from around the bars.

Gardens by the Bay is amazing and you can see the sound and light show for free. The shopping centre at Marina Bay Sands is worth a look, as is the incredible casino there - worth entering just to see the scale of it and to enjoy a free hot or cold drink.

For an experience, try eating at the food courts or venture into Chinatown. Amazing place.

  • Take a folding umbrella - when it rains it does so in spades !!!

Maybe it's not the rainy season now though, we were there later in the year.

    Four floors of more.

Little India for Fish Head curry.

MRT out to Kranji for the Horse racing.
Best if you go for a night meeting.

If I went to Kranji, I'd have to visit the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery...
