Can you not use your Sky router ?

Unlikely, as the Sky router is locked down to Sky and very difficult to reconfigure for a different ISP.
  • Is there a firmware update for that router you can try?

If not try a different router to prove it works.

What I need to know is can I get out of this current contract or can I complain to ofgem or something, because I'm paying for something I'm not getting! It's like buying a car from new to find out it cuts out all the time, I can't bbe just left with it.

    OFGEM regulate energy markets.

    Follow Plusnet's complaints procedure.

You work in IT: so do some basic fault-finding. Swap out the router to eliminate that, same with the ADSL filters.

Do you have any work colleagues, friends or neighbours who have an old plusnet router they are no longer using?
Or place a want advertisement on freecycle for one in your area?

Hopefully i'm not telling you to suck eggs. Change the wireless frequency on your router. It could be the radio signal is interfering with another in the same locality. I had a similar issue when I moved to BT Fibre a couple of years back and doing this solved it.

I've just switched to plusnet. The router is a bit rubbish, but I get 15meg down and it's great.
