This is the reason I wanted to know if they might be genuine or not. The kooky part of me was thinking how would one get their paws on 300 new stamps (possibly even more if the buyer sells more) unless they had a PO or their PO was shutting down and they had loads of stamps to sell on.
Those 100 stamp Business Sheets can be bought from office and stationery suppliers - e.g. for a small business/sole trader wanting to do mailouts without investing in a franking machine. It's possible that if that business then went under - they would have some to sell off. I'm not sure if a sub-PO that went under would have to do that or the stamps would go back to Post Office Counters Ltd.

    Here's a stamp dealer/collector blog with a few pointers...
    https://blog.norphil.co.uk/2018/05/forged-and-reused-stamps-how-to-spot.html - especially the 6th comment down
https://blog.norphil.co.uk/2018/07/non-machin-postal-forgeries-20142016.html - dodgy Christmas stamps too!
I need to think of something new here...

The stamps are now scanned, not just read by eye so re used ones are easily caught. Also postal fraud is an easy crime to police and its nearly as easy to hold the item and charge a penalty on it as it is to ignore.

Even putting a bit of sellotape across a brand new stamp would cause it to be re charged as the machine would have read it as not valid.

It's odd though how many people think postal fraud is an acceptable crime!

I ALWAYS stick sellotape over my stamps ,on lumpy packages ,to stop the damm things coming off, never had a package "banned" yet..................mind u theres always a first time !

You have been lucky, we've had a thread on here and it crops up a lot on the facebook selling groups I read where buyers have had to pay the surcharge as the stamp could not be read and was treated as unpaid. If you are using a shiny bag or worry about a stamp then attach a paper square to the parcel and stick the stamps to that, you then have a firmer paper back and stamps should be secure.

It was on a watchdog tv programme that there are a lot of people selling counterfeit first class stamps in places like corner shops and various internet websites.

Any stamp that cannot be cancelled (franked) should be treated as reused.

Still do,well at least up till last xmas.
  • Can you send me the link to these business stamps?

I have recently invested in a postbase mini from fp mailing.

It's going well atm but would be interested to hear what other small businesses are using for cheap postage?

Not sure I would trust stamps on eBay and worry they do not look as professional as a business frank/stamp
