I like Vivaldi, created by one of the original guys behind Opera. It's another newish Chromium-based browser.

I'm using it as well as I was disappointed with Opera when they went to the Chromium based version as it felt little more than a reskinned version of Chrome and lacked many of the features particularly the integrated Opera had been well known for.

While Vivaldi is also Chromium based it feels much more like an Opera replacement and they seem to be putting a lot of effort into improving it.

Choose whether you want the International or English version then choose the version for your OS (32 or 64 bit). Be sure to turn off autoupdate to stop it trying to update.
Best of luck doing that with opera because I have never found a way to do it without renaming the autoupdate exe to prevent it. I have never seen any option to disable updates. All internet quides I have looked at, including ones on operas forum by the mods do not apply to windows opera.

Having tried most of the !!!8220;well-known!!!8221; browsers, and some of the more obscure, Opera would be my browser of choice. It feels quick, slick and modern.

However, a warning for those using Sandboxie. Opera won!!!8217;t video-stream when browsing sandboxed. This seems to be a problem with Sandboxie rather than Opera, so a no-no for me until they find a fix.
I really dislike opera. I would say hate because my dislike is so strong. What browser prevents disabling updates? I also sandbox all my internet appz with Sandboxie and the last thing I need is Opera updating inside a sandbox, it is just worthless to me. Sessions? Opera junks sessions at a whim. Tabs? Useless tab handling only the drop down tab menu makes it slightly less irritating. It might be okay for people who use 10 tabs max.

Kindly dispossing of posts that I have spent time on compliling due to forum sessions. Overall I avoid Opera and won't go near it.

OP here, caught up with posts, was out most of yesterday. Oddly enough, Opera seems to be having a hicup today, so am using Firefox at present. Will investigate further later. Have note Yandex and Vivaldi, will give them a try also later, thanks.

Yes, of course. Think I will be on-line all day, jumping from one browser to another.

First thing, in firefox, the spellchecker isn't working. I've looked in settings and it is checked. I am typying Thursdy as an example but no red line beneath.

PS, now on chrome, Thursdy YES, it works here as does another error.

PPS, now on Opera, Thursdy YES, so it's a FF thing

Thursdy !By Jove I've done it. Introduced English dictionary as well as English language.

    Now look what I've found:-

    Not compatible with Firefox Quantum

It should be compatible with Quantum but I have not tested it because I do not use Quantum.

The spelling context menu does not show until you install a dictionary.

Any of the none FF browsers support multi line tabs yet? I tried most for them a year or back and none did.
I need a lots tabs open for researching and the others made them a few pixels wide, which is useless. FF gives as many lines deep as you like. . .

FF also has TabHunter extension which makes searching for tabs easy which is a must have when there are a lot of tabs open.

However I do not use the recent versions and prefer using an old version, 1.0.5.1 which works much better ie it's faster and keeps old searches which newer versions failed to do.
