Don’t use Gladstone Brooks

I sent them between 6-8 filled out forms that they’d asked for (including a photocopy of my marriage certificate), all in the pre-addressed envelopes they’d sent me and they claimed not to have received any of them.
They then proceed to bombard me with phone calls, texts and emails begging me to send back the forms I’d already sent them that they’d somehow lost in their system. On three occasions they re-sent the same form, I re-sent it back to them and they claimed the document didnt arrive (again.) So much so that they eventually closed down one of my accounts and then phoned me to say it was my fault because they asked me to send the forms back and I hadn’t (I’d sent two copies of
of the same form back to them in one week in their pre-paid envelope just to cover myself.)
I’ve lost the PPI claim now as the time has expired so I won’t get the money. The woman I spoke to tried to blame British Mail but honestly, the chance of this being a fault with British Mail on 6-8 occasions (I may even be being generous there) is zero.
They lost my Dad’s forms the first time he sent them back too so it’s not an isolated case. Jaine.

Thanks for that, but the general consensus is, don't use any CMC.
They don't do anything* you can't do yourself, for free.

I'm perfectly capable of charging a lot for postage stampsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I also find it hard to believe a Claim Company would "close one your accounts" unless you repeatedly failed to send them documents.
No one here will recommend the use of expensive and unnecessary claim companies, but your reasons for not recommending them are very far from the usual.Jaine_Pickering wrote: »They lost my Dad's forms the first time he sent them back too0 -

I always knew it was a bad idea to combine the postal service with the railways.
My 11.04 postman is running late again and he'll be probably be overcrowded when he gets here.0 -

So why did you also employ them?
I bet the CMC will have screwed up either under 3 year rule or FOS 6 month one, as ever another reason to not use themSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

I find it odd that your claim has "expired". As long as you submit your claim before 29th August 2019 there is still a chance of getting you money back. Just to clarify - you only have to submit your complaint before the deadline date. It doesn't matter if your claim then takes weeks or even months to resolve, just as long as it starts before 29/08/19.
Good luck though, I hope you get something back!"The problem with quotes you read on the internet, is that most of them are made up." - Winston Churchill0 -
WOW way to bump an old thread - OP hasn’t logged on since the day they joined lol
Also more than likely she has been caught out by time bar rules - either they have not been explained well to them or they have simply misunderstood.0 -

Just being helpful and adding to the discussion! Don't really see what the problem is"The problem with quotes you read on the internet, is that most of them are made up." - Winston Churchill0 -
The OP never logged back in and your answer had nothing to do with the original post....is why.
And since they posted in August, they are way past time for a FOS escalation.
However, the thread title does say it all, definitely don't use any claims company, let alone these.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
So, I have instructed these folk to do my reclaiming, basically because I cannot remember ever having PPI at all. They have found some old accounts of mine from late 90s which I had no idea or any recollection of them, so in that way they are useful. My question is, can I back out once the cooling off period has passed and continue with it myself? Anybody had experience doing this?0
