Difficulty getting non-fibre broadband

Options
I currently have PlusNet non-fibre broadband, the 12-month deal for which expired on 8 August.

I have been looking for alternative providers and MSE's broadband checker said in my postcode I could receive both Sky and NOW's non-fibre broadband services, but when I go to both providers' websites they say I can only receive their fibre services and not their non-fibre service.

Would it be worthwhile taking SSE's monthly broadband service (I am an SSE energy customer) and then switching back to PlusNet after a month or so?

Your Plusnet contract should continue onto a monthly rolling one. If the price has gone up, call them to renegotiate for another 12 months?

Just moved from an SSE contract to their current deal and from our experience I'd say it's a no brainer.

Phone them up and they'll most likely offer you the basic fibre package for the same £21 as the advertised copper one. As an energy customer they'll also stick to that for 3 years even though you can ditch them with a months notice if something better turns up!

As long as your phone line & master socket didn't come with the ark, the change over should be as simple as unplug your existing router and plug in the one they send on the allotted day, then wait for it to connect. Took a couple of hours for us.

There are some bad reviews about speed, drop outs, etc (but that's true for most ISPs) but we've had pretty well faultless service over the past 18 months+ with speeds that consistently meet or exceed their advertised average.

Just changed to their 76Mb/s deal (at £26 as an energy customer) because, at cheaper than some copper deals, why wouldn't we???

My guess is that you are getting that result after entering your postcode and telephone number.

Same in my area because there are no vacant slots in the cabinet for regular broadband but there are vacant slots for fibre broadband. This came as quite a shock for me because I thought a slot is a slot and there is no difference but apparently there is a difference.

btw NowTV broadband is virtually Sky broadband.
