Hello everyone,
I'm starting this thread to try to document my progress/provide the motivation I need to put an end to my addiction to Cannabis.
I have smoked cannabis everyday since the age of 12, I am now 27 that's 15 years of habitual smoking.
I have an amazing partner who has been through quite a-lot with me, but things have come to a head and its time that I now face this head on, for the sake of my own health and that of our relationship.
I have tried many times in the past to quit, but always find myself relapsing and smoking again.
can anyone provide me any tips on battling this addiction ?
Today is day 1 of what i hope to be the start of not smoking, I have emptied my stash, deleted all the dealers numbers and now I need to find things to do at the times I would usually smoke.
I plan to finish work tonight and go for a swim, but the pool doesn't open until 7pm. so there is 3 hours that i would normally smoke that i need to find something to distract me from the thoughts.
My partner has also suggested i write a list of the positive and negatives that weed has bought to me over the years, i may add this onto a following post.
but yeah looking for ideas/support/motivation to combat this.

Positive
Friendship circle (false friends but also only friends)
enjoyment factor (not so much)
taste (yes)
Negative
money (holidays, house, debts)
arguments (partner doesn't like it, i've failed to quit in past so she is loosing faith in me)
lack of motivation (rather have a smoke than do some jobs)
priority (can take over my priorities in order to get some)
Hiding from family (lack of connection with family)0 -
I can understand stopping smoking being difficult. But cannabis has almost no addictive properties.0

Well done on your resolve! You!!!8217;ve made some great first steps, but it!!!8217;s not going to be easy.
Have you considered asking your GP for a referral to some CBT that might help you push those thoughts away when they creep up on you.0 -
Delete your usual dealers' numbers off your phone.
Find a gym/pool that is open when you finish work.
Get rid of your Clippers, Rizlas, grinder and roach material.
Consider redecorating the room where you would normally skin up and smoke.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Sure I just mean that you might be craving the nicotine rather than anything else0

Have you got a local drug/alcohol support service. A friend of mine manages ours and it is very good and you can self refer.0
