I expect you have done it by now but I have had the Tado smart thermostat on my conventional gravity/pumped boiler including hot water for three years. I have found it fantastic. Only saved about 5% so not paid for itself yet but what comfort and control. It literally just tweaks the boiler when the temperature is outside range and locks it on the exact temperature. Before with a Honeywell analogue it would always overshoot and then cool down to a degree or two below before kicking in at full power again. Can also set in 0.1C increments whereas analog was a guess on a dial +- 2C ! It knows when we are out and kicks in at a manually pre-set distance from home. In any case I could just turn it on or off from my phone from anywhere in the world. I don't know if Tado are the best (cost about £175 all in including hot water) so I rented it for a year quite cheaply to try it out. So will it save you money, maybe not in the short term but it will certainly improve your comfort and control.
