Hi
Is it possible for a firm to do a trace/search of someone using any of the 4 CRA's and leave no trace what so ever so the person in question would never know about it.(so no foot print what so ever )
I have read in various places that firms can do this. Is this even possible in any way? Would be interesting to hear from the experian rep

The question is why do you want to know?0

I am wanting to know as I want to know if I could be the victim of it without being able to trace the company that did it0

Searches through Credit Reference Agencies such as Equifax, Experian and CallCredit are the most common tracing tools used by agencies.

I'd guess it would show up as a soft search on your credit record. In any case, if someone is looking for you they will have a reason, so if they believe they have found who they are looking for, they'll soon be in touch.realgonekid wrote: »I am wanting to know as I want to know if I could be the victim of it without being able to trace the company that did it
A victim of what exactly? If you owe money and have gone awol, your creditors are entitled to go looking for you.0 -
4 CRAs... There are 3, unless I have missed something.
Yes it is. Also companies can buy electoral role data. So if you have not very common name they can trace using that as well.0 -
local councils do it for tracing people who have skipped out on rent or council tax debt without leaving any forwarding info, well within their right to do so.
to be clear - the search brings up basic information and addresses only. it will not tell them that you have a vodafone contract owing £1000. it will say you have a telecommunications credit account attached to a certain address and the date.0 -
There are 4 CRA's the 4th one being Crediva ( Lexis Nexis)
I am not saying companies don't have a right to search people are missing the whole point here.....
What I am asking is it all possible to search a credit file of someone and leave no foot print what so ever.
( electoral roll data is a different issue )0 -
Holy cow...Crediva actually exist and appear to be a CRA...I never knew that!!!I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0 -
i believe the only print left will be if it were for credit search - quotations for car insurance, credit card applications etc
track and trace uses different criteria, so not exactly sure
councils use Experian track and trace - check with Experian if they leave a footprint or not0 -
They would only be doing it for a reason.
So I don!!!8217;t think you would be classed as a !!!8220;victim!!!8221;0 -
Again your missing the point.... It's the ability of any firm to do a trace without leaving any foot print......0
