TV Channels - treating us like goldfish

Two statements that are pure filler and make me so angry:

Coming Up next
Coming up

I wonder what % of TV programs are made up of these 2 statements!

I hate adverts and use a PVR to record. I am able to skip the adverts.

I presume it's in programs that were made by (or could be sold to) the US market. In some cases - you lose a minute before the ad break telling you what's in the next segment (to make you stay through the ads) and then another minute of "previously on..." for people who only arrived on that channel during the ad break. So that could be 6 minutes in an hour time slot 10% - more if the introduction is lengthy. It's also slightly cheaper to make as the same piece of footage might appear 3 or 4 times in the same show.
I need to think of something new here...

I used to do that with episodes of Countdown but skipping all the nonsense chat as well. You can get through an episode in around 10 minutes :T

The adverts on the BBC annoy me. Even when they are running late, as they often are. Thank god for Netflix.

The ones that really rile me are the ads that say a progromme is coming to TV soon, but doesn't say WHEN! They must know.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

My favourite used to be The Streets Of San Fransisco, where they read out the on-screen credits for you...

As far as TV goes now, I almost always record so I can skip the ads and blurb.

Reminds me of the comedy spoof news programme called The Day Today. The local news was mostly taken up with phrase: Still to come . . . :)
