I had to buy some ground rice to use in a recipe. It's not something I've ever used before and the smallest pack I could get was 500g   - I only needed to use a tiny amount.
So now I'm stuck with about 495g of the stuff and no idea what to do with it

Has anyone got any recipes so that I don't have to throw it away please?
Thanks very much

Ground rice makes lovely rice pudding - use 50g per pint of milk and sugar to taste. Put it in a casserole dish with a knob of butter and sprinkle of nutmeg and cook for about an hour and a half, stirring every now and then. I have got some in the cupboard and might make some now! You can also use it in cakes - replace up to a quarter of the flour - it makes them lovely and moist.Jane

Do you know any small babies who are being weaned ? It makes excellent weaning food.0

Ground rice is lovely in cakes. Google 'ground rice cakes' and there will be lots come up. if you make a 'bakewell tart' type recipe, replacing some of the flour with it gives a lovely texture.
There is a reference in 'Sons and Lovers' by D.H. Lawrence to 'rice' cakes.0 -
Ground rice also makes a lovely scrub - I ix into a paste with sweet almond oil and a bit of lavender and use it as a face and body scrubI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions everyone.
My latest grandbaby is only 3 weeks old, so I don't think he'll be weaning for a while :rotfl: :rotfl:
But all the others sound like they're worth a try! thanks again!

I use ground rice when making double crust fruit pies.
I sprinkle about a tablespoon of g/r over the bottom pastry before adding the prepared fruit. It soaks up the surplus juice which would give you a 'soggy bottom'
