You see someone hit another car & then drive off...

Well the old boy has been in touch with his insurance company as they've been in touch with me this morning which I'm really happy about. I'm glad he's not letting the other person get away with it. Scumbags!!
I checked through my dash cam and found it shows the third party at least parked there so good luck to them if they try saying they weren't there.0 -
I see quite a few clips on dash cam compilations where it appears the driver witnesses something then just drives off and uploads it later - I'd stop and help. I did that recently when I witnessed a bike hit a car (possibly because he was avoiding another car driving stupidly) and gave them all the head cam footage I had. One insurer contacted me for a statement after so I gave them the details of statement but did seem a bit pointless as it was all recorded on camera!
Someone reversed into my car and left a thin line of paint which fortunately wiped off but dash cam didn't seem to trigger so maybe was too soft but no note was left. I recently spotted a ding in the door which can probably be popped out from someone opening their door into it and again not leaving a note. Car may be 4 years old now but it's well looked after so it's disappointing I might need to go back to parking car away from other cars or sticking it so far over that people don't try and use the space next to meSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I'd be tempted to report it to the police. There are two issues here:
1. Damage to the other car, which is up to the owner whether or not they pursue it.
2. Leaving the scene of an accident, which is unlawful, and it's in the public interest for the driver to be caught and punished.
If they don't get away with it, they're less likely to do it next time.
I've given a police statement for something similar, and it was dead easy.
As an aside, I've also damaged a parked sports car and, of course, left my details. You gotta practise what you preach!0 -
My next door neighbours brand new works van one month old was damaged outside his house in our close, he knew I had a security camera that covered the front of my property and extended to the road outside, on checking on the camera we saw a white people carrier reverse into the close and hit his van, chap got out and went and took something to another house stopped and looked at the van then drive off.
It turned out they had delivered a takeaway, when he contacted the takeaway they said the driver was self employed and they would get the driver to ring him which of course he never did.
He took a copy of the video on a pen drive reported it to the police and gave them a copy, next the driver phoned moaning and complaining that the police had been to interview him as they were treating it as a hit and run. but it was not as he had left a note on the windscreen and why had nobody rung him, at this point he was told that we had a video which proved this was a total lie.
His company who own the van are now dealing with it and we are still awaiting to hear the outcome.0
