Vanquis

Has anyone had any trouble with Vanquis? I originally applied for an Argos card, but it was Vanquis that were the issuing company. There were fine until I started having repayment issues.I contacted them and told them I was struggling,so,they offered 3 months at £59 which was fine,so after that I got another 3 at £60,again fine,it was agreed again for another 3,but,someone never applied it to my account, needless to say that caused trouble, this happened twice. In May I was offered an income and expenditure form, which I emailed them.No response through all of June, they posted me out a form as well,so,I contacted them to tell them I had emailed one,I was told that what I sent was blank. They received it on the 16th of June, but never informed me I had made an error. So,I filled in paper form and posted it.Got a phone call from them today as I had only made the £60 payment, told them I was waiting on feedback re form. What form? We don't have it,it was blank.I told them I posted one, they don't have it.I wasnt impressed by there customer service before this,Im less impressed now.The blank eform I understand,Im not good with attachments, but to say the second copy was lost in the post,is just too much. They don't seem to be interested in helping customers who are struggling. My friend reckons its a con.Any one got any pointers on this please?

Your friend is an idiot. Ignore them.

If you're struggling, all you can do is pay them what you can. They will come to an arrangement as long as you don't stop paying completely.
  • They are messing me about.Claiming they haven't received stuff,I have been messed about on the phone regularly, according to them,I told them I wasn't working, rubbish! One department doesn't know what the other is doing,Im told different things by different people every time I contact them.I have had a look into their ratings,it seems Im not the only person that's having trouble with them.

It doesn't matter what their ratings are or what other people are doing. Their customer base is high risk and poor with repayments. They won't rate debt collection activities highly.

Keep the lines of communication open.

not all high risk customers are poor with repayments. regardless of situation, customer care is free and shouldn't be based on the type of customer

i have had vanquis card for years - paid in full each month while rebuilding credit
every time i needed to call them - replacement card, adding card holder, and even when closing my account, never had any issues

you need to focus on your account, not everyone else's expectations. if you struggling with payments, you should be speaking to one department only on 0330 099 3002. make sure you in constant contact, and make sure things are received, don't just assume things have been done

The reason being, call centre new hires and the poor training that goes with it, unfortunately. Try and communicate in written form as much as possible! That way, you have proof of what you say, and what you are being told.

Possibly because you've read the fine prints :T

I daren't even make my first purchase till I got a written confirmation of my DD being set up to pay the full amount each month :rotfl:

The fact is, some of the info they provide you with is confusing unless you read it over 2-3 times and are sure you understand it very well.

The problem with it, many of their customer base are foreigners, or people without a grasp of legal/financial technicalities, and that's how they get in trouble. That information should be spelled out in simpler terms IMHO.
