Help with housing

A lot of areas are very difficult to find a landlord that accepts housing benefit. Some will but they are very few and far between. If you're lucky enough to find one then you'll most likely need a guarantor.0

First the income or contribution based part.
Can you tell us what PIP you get - daily living? mobility?
Do you currently live alone? Does anyone claim Carer's allowance for you?
Do you have savings over £16000?
Can you tell us how much ESA you get? That might give us a clue.
As regards finding accommodation where have you tried so far?
Lettings agents are not a good source for people on benefits unless you have lots of savings or can get a guarantor.
Some other ideas.
Visit your local housing office (council). some of them have a list of landlords that take people on benefits.
Have you applied to go on the housing register? Speak to the council when you are there about this.
Try local newspapers/local newsagents - ads in windows.
Ask friends/family - often someone knows some body looking for a tenant.
Have you got the first month's rent and deposit as this would have to be paid for in advance?0 -

Great advice, but I'd suggest you need at least the first two months rent saved, especially if you're in a universal credit area as it can take over a month for payments to start.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
yep two months rent (plus deposit), especially if like me you end up slightly out of synch so that the universal credit payment goes in two days after the rent comes out.0
