I think you just want an ordinary curry sauce, Harry Ramsden does it in sachets, or a Schwartz packet. I think korma although mild may be too creamy on chips. I agree with others it's a Chinese curry you want. The takeaway secret cookbook does a recipe and it's not difficult. I'm not at home other wise I would look it up.0

Hi,
FarmFoods sell both varieties of Mayflower, only £1.0 -
A lot of independent butchers sell Mayflower powder and paste in this area. There's also a Thai version but I haven't tried that. I like the 'blue' tub which is milder and nice as a base with fried onion. The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Prompted by this post I tried the 'other' curry powder last night. It's Malaysian, not Thai, (Gold pot) and I found it to be quite hot but usually prefer milder curries. OH declared it to be gorgeous! The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.

Bisto do a curry granules that are very mild. You just add water to it, like you do the gravy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Thanks folks. Coincidentally, I picked up a jar of Sharwood's "Butter Chicken" sauce in Tesco, down from £1.75 to £1, and found that's very much to my liking! We're all doomed0

The Lidl jar curry sauces are loved by my teenage lads - they think they're eating chicken tikka & actually I mix one tikka to one korma & then cook the chicken really slowly so the sauce reduces.
(I wasn't paying attention (good book) one time & they were so complimentary about the flavour I decided to try it again. Still rave reviews, so I've turned curry time into catch up on several chapters time!)0 -

Mayflower curry sauce, with a good spoonful or 2 of mango chutney is lovely. My daughter really enjoys this as it is milder0
