Hello
Initially I had 2 meters with Scottish Power, on economy 7; it has taken me over a year to get these removed (even longer story) I realised I was being over charged double amounts of £825 per month via direct debit because of the energy price surge. Finally I managed to get the meters removed and replaced with a Single Phase meter (by Scottish Power), they now owe me £7982.60 (not a typo) but they are reluctant to update my new single phase details online. I am desperate to get a refund but all my old information is still showing on my the online account, the old meter 2 numbers and 2 MPAN numbers. They haven't updated the new single phase meter to my account and have ceased all billing since April. My account is dormant, which makes me extremely anxious.
It has been nearly 7 weeks since the Single Phase meter was installed and still Scottish Power haven't updated my account to reflect the meter change and are keeping my money but are still asking for meter readings. How can I input my reading when my new new meter isn't even showing!
I am desperate to switch but I need the correct MPAN number; is there a way I can get a single MPAN to match the new Single phase meter?
I am beholden to Scottish Power, every week they keep saying next week the new meter will sync, and pushing updating my account details back because they have a small IT team!
Has anyone experienced the same thing, any advice would be helpful.
It has been 145 days since the complaint was generated.
Many thanks.

Escalate your complaint (assuming you have made one) to The Energy Ombudsman.

MPAN remains the same when they exchange meters . You would have lost the MPAN for the off peak meter so you now will have just the one MPAN used now for the multi rate smart meter
You will be able to see the night rate once your new meter connects .With the Scottish Power smart meter when I was working for them meter reading , the night rate was on button 6 , day on button 9 .
I m not sure if you were paying two standing charges on the two MPANS but that was ended a few years ago and suppliers were not allowed to charge for 2 x standing charges .You can get this repaid back to the date OFGEM banned 2 x MPAN charges.
Hopefully once this huge debt is sorted you can think about switching suppliers and away from Scot Power.
My freind in Aberdeenshire has two complex meters and is now paying one standing charge and has managed to switch from SSE to EDF where he is happy at 15 p night , 31 day rate .Octpus is another supplier I would recommend

Thank you for all the advice.I should have said that I am writing on behalf of my elderly parents who historically have been paying £101 every month but their direct debit increased end of last year dramatically and they asked me to look into it in February. I was shocked and to be honest confused by their meter arrangement. Please see a picture below of the old meters (one you will see was dead and had stopped reading years ago but the account was still being charged). The direct debit went from £101 monthly to £567, then £825 and 2 months it went out twice. As I said I managed to get the meters replaced as SP admitted the readings were incorrect.OLD METERSNEW SINGLE PHASE: Note that old meter had a lot more info than the new single phase.I guess, what I am asking how do tell which MPAN (see below) belongs to this new meter, more importantly can use to switch?
Thanks again, so helpful.

Thank you, please see my new post, sorry I didn't attach; can I ask how do the night / day rates work with the new meter?
Thanks again!

As people have said - ignore the term "single phase".
The old meters were both "single phase", as is almost every domestic meter in the country. It means nothing.
The important point for you is that the 5235A is a single rate meter. It doesn't have day rate and night rate etc. It only has one reading. It can't do Economy 7.
Both those MPANs are profile 02. A single rate meter does not normally have a profile 02 MPAN. Is that the only meter in the property?2 -

I agree it is now only 1 ready, so surely 1 MPAN? However Scottish Power will not update my account to reflect this, they are delaying this because they say they have limited IT support and say they are working on it (It's been 7 weeks); do you think this is the norm?
Thank you for your comment CSI Yorkshire :-)

If they were on a white meter supply before, that would suggest that they have storage heaters as their main heating source?
Storage heaters (or more generally any conventional electric heating) on a single rate supply is often an expensive idea. Most people with storage heaters would be on peak/off-peak split rates.
If SP are needing to update the national database to change the meter profile and things, that can be slow - I've never done it myself so don't know quite how slow.0
