Yes.
Logical disconnection of RHT meter (this would make your heating side stop working).
Would not be a problem. I dont have an E7 contract. I pay it all at standard rate.
I have a new log burner so night heating is low now anyway.
Even on standard rate I could save over £200 if I could switch to Bulb. But because of two mpan I would have to pay two standing charges.
Recently had new consumer units etc and had the electrician put the heaters into the main box and the consumer unit for heaters removed.
So I really do not need the other mpan. Just no idea how to get rid of it.0 -
If you are happy to get rid of one of the MPANs, it will be your DNO that have to cancel this for you (you can search 'who is my DNO' to find out who yours is). This would be classed as a disconnection, where the service would no longer serve the property, however if you speak to them they should get someone to come out and have a look to see what it is they will need to do.
Edit - I have just found this, https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/internet/en/have-your-say/documents/UK%20Power%20Networks%20MPAN%20Guide%20V1.0%20September%202018.pdf
You will need to go through your supplier to cancel the MPAN, it is classed as a logical disconnection with UKPN but maybe called something different by other DNO's.LBM: Dec 2012 - Debt £38,180/ Now £0.
DFD - 17/04/2016

I am having trouble with N POWER with this. They changed my meter approx 1 1/2 years ago and never told the database that one of the mpan needed to be removed. I can't transfer to another supplier as it still says I have 2 mpan numbers. After many many complaints and fone calls I still can't get this sorted. They say there doing it then don't then tell me I should do it(which I can't). I'm at my wits end and just don't know what to do. Someone please help0

I am going through this horrible experience. I moved into a rented flat few months ago with two MPANs. This is also unlisted and hence unavailable in any price comparison sites.
I was unaware of two MPANs and letting agents never disclosed it.
Since I rent this house and have contract period to fullfill, apart from bearing the expensive pain, are there any other way outs? Could you please let me know who the supplier is for you?0 -

Hi all, I am having the same problem. I have just moved into a rented flat with the SSE super deal meter. I contacted sse to switch to a Econ 7 meter to get a less extortionate tariff. When I tried to switch to a new Econ 7 supplier (bulb) I was informed that I had a two mpan (related) meter so they could only switch me to there standard tarrif (not economy 7). As I have storage heaters I really need to stay on economy 7. Does anyone no if there is anyone I can switch to in this situation? Any advise welcome! Charlotte0

I am going thru the same hel , but almost sorted , the two meters were design with houses with the storage heaters so if you like to swap providers you will need to change the meter to a single meter with one MPAN number and storage heaters to be changed to a new electric radiators . After that Scottish power insisted that I get DNO come in and remove cables but DNO doesn't do this so I asked them to send me email confirming me this where they kindly dit it went back to Scottish power with all this and now waiting for day to get new meter installed. I believe will be switching on the first day the meter will be installed. Nightmare customer service bean lied to , they hang up on me in several occasions and threatened with charges . We are whole are with the same meters , as soon I get new meter will go thrue all of the flats to help them out to do the same.0

Comiserations to anyone having to deal with either Scottish Power or Eon, both of whom seem to be equally as clueless as each other in my experience. To try dealing with both at the same time must have been a real hell on earth!Debt Free Wannabe by 1 March 2026
Satisfied customer of Octopus Agile - currently saving on average 33% of standard tarrif
Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.0 -

If you want you can use the red flag - a moderator will do it for you
I am not sure of what order you did any of this, or told any of this, did you want new panels rather than nsh, or feel forced by metering change etc,.
But this definitely not my experience in the past.
I used to have 2 meters, 2mpans, one radio telemetry for hot water and nsh circuits only, one standard meter for daytime circuits only..
EOn pushed us off heatwise radio tariffs year ago, choice of two fixed meters - single E10 digital or single flat rate meter and associated tariffs.
I stuck with E10 and my old nsh.
That has since been upgraded to E10 Smart.
Other neighbours since switched to E7 Tariffs with old nsh and one now more modern hhr dimplex versions.
To answer specific questions EOn used to have a dedicated restricted / complex metering team. They understood exactly my questions (from electrical engineering background) - normal customer services couldn't understand anything about wiring related to meters - and it was their misinformation that led me to complex metering team in first place.
Sadly not sure they still exist under EOnNext.
All changes required for me and my neighbour - who i was acting as keyholder for that day - were internal to metering cupboard.
We did lose a hot water daytime boost facility.
I did have to have 3 meter change visits the first time - the first 2 engineers hadn't seen a heatwise system.
The third - just got on with the job, and did 2 neighbours 1 as I say same day/ 1 when saw him back following week.
No changes to consumer unit(s), house circuits or heater types whatsoever.
But that was a relatively modern setup c1990s / early 2000s build.
There are multiple single smart meters - that work for e7 and e10 - tariffs - that can handle the timed circuit load switch internally - and others like mine which do so via external load switch contactor relay block. "Edit : An example single load switching e7 meter cabinet can be seen in post ti titledCan anyone help me identify what is in my electrical meter box please?"
The meter has 2 brown live wire outputs on rhs - one time switched for nsh etc,one for normal circuits, essentially in simplest case replacing the outputs from 2 old meters.
The isolator switch block outputs then feed the consumer unit(s) in the house.
I haven't checked the metering database though for this house - its virtually impossible to switch on E10 these days..
But my bills went from 2 mpan/2 sc then , to 1 mpan / 1 sc now.
I would suggest a more straightforward path should have been, if wiring suitable throughout
1) Upgrade 2 old to one smart (now) meter with current supplier.
2) Check and get them to delete any ghost old / second mpans - it's far more difficult from some old posts here after a switch if manage or to switch in first place. It takes a few weeks normally to update after a meter change.
Note the comment from EO n repUnder industry rules, only the existing supplier is allowed to ask for changes.
3) Switch
I have however seen posts where others have only had the day meter changed - one of those might have been SP. But not sure - from a technical point of view - why done that way.0
