Karoo Broadband - Getting Faster?

In Hull we are stuck with Karoo for Broadband. Rather expensive at £18.99p for 256Kbps.

But, over the past few days, I have noticed it is getting faster. Now up to 487.9kbps in speed tests.

Anyone else noticed this?

 Your joking, I also live in Hull |(and have no choice but to use Karoo) I have a 3meg connection £39.99 a month and all the speed tests I do come out the same as someone with a 2.5 meg connection.

I agree with you regarding the lack of competition, its a disgrace.

Is there anyone fighting the monopoly KC has in Hull, regarding broadband?

I've heard that the reason there are no other providers is that the deal KC has offered them to use their lines is too expensive and they would effectively make a loss. So not strictly speaking a monopoly, but restrictive nonetheless. I was getting hopeful that aol might be muscling in, given the spread of advertising in Hull just now, but I think they've just done a blanket deal for all UK cities and haven't thought about it being a waste of money advertising here.
