MSE News: Octopus Energy to take on Iresa's 90,000 customers - here's what you need to know

I submitted meter readings to Octopus but no bill arrived so I messaged them and got this reply
``At the moment there is a delay in Octopus bills being produced, as we have a bit of background work still to do so we can charge you from 1st August. This is because the supply start date differs from this date. We don't want to have billing errors, or cause customers any confusion, so we have put a temporary hold on producing bills for Iresa customers.
When we produce your Octopus bills, we will send you an email! So please remain patient, everything will be running smoothly very soon!0 -
I complained to Octopus about my meter readings going missing - both the start figure and the reading I gave on 31st August had vanished from my account and it appeared as if they wanted a reading to close the Iresa account!!
I rec'd an email yesterday saying that it had been corrected and not to worry - but the website hasn't changed at all - I think that they have grossly underestimated the number of customers who are switching away asap - Suspect that's why we are suddenly seeing switches being rejected.
I'm supposed to be switching this week to Usio -I've given them a meter reading and so far, no rejection of the switch - but watch this space!!!
EDIT - My account with the new supplier is set up and they have requested first DD0 -
But ... but ...... but Octopus are the dogs !!!!!!!! according to the e-mails I got from Jon from Octopus Energy
My daughter has had all her meter reads disappear as well. She is switching next week so we will wait and see.0 -
I've just spoken to Eversmart (6 minute wait) and they reckon it's OK for my tomorrow's switchover from Octopus.
The ES guy had to set up my online account manually though and has taken my meter reading over the phone.
I shall wait with keen anticipation to see how Octopus handle the final bill. I'll owe them exactly £4.80 based on today's meter reading so they can take as long as they like to produce it.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
My electric switch to Enstroga was blocked too. Stuck with Octopus until mid October. Gas switch to zog seems to be on track. My account is in nearly £100 credit after settling an Iresa debt and one new DD payment. I've been giving weekly reads.
I estimate I'm about £30 in credit after this month's usage but rather annoying to have no bill. I really resent being made to wait so long paying such considerably higher prices and the love and power spiel doesn't help :rotfl:0 -
I suppose the best thing is to inundate them with complaints if they are unreasonably holding up switches.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

I hope they get their act together soon! surely once we have agreed the balance on our Iresa account and it has been closed and transferred over to Octopus everything should then be with them...yet they are saying they are still doing background work so they can charge us from 1st August!! Octopus have our meter readings so wonder what the problem is?
My switch isn`t due for a few weeks but hope they manage to get it sorted out for all of you switching soon.0 -
Anyone managed a problem free switch from Iresa/Octopus since the take over?0
