    01315 is Edinburgh.

If you don't know anyone there, assume it's a telemarketer/scam and block the number.

Could it perhaps be a human being who wants to speak to you?

Strange I know, but don't rule it out.

Why not answer it and see???

Most of the time I am called from a number I don't know it is a spam call. The few times it is a legitimate call the caller tends to leave a message. Therefore I tend not to answer calls from numbers I don't recognise.

You could try checking on whocalledme as this will show you feedback on type of call if anyone has spoken to them or even if many have had calls cut short like you. Totally understand not answering unknown numbers; quite apart from not wanting to waste my time, I think the less feedback scam callers get from a number, the less likely they are to call again.

If your time is too precious to waste leaving me a message, my time is too precious to waste talking to you.

Usually these days its a computer waiting for you to say something before transferring you to the scam artist, I mean human.

But just enter the number in Google is you want to know.

But just enter the number in Google is you want to know.

That used to help but most of the time it doesn't now.

Scammers now ensue they use fictitious numbers so if you enter the number the OP quoted it does not help at all.

We are still getting calls from Talktalk scammers even though we have now left Talktalk. We have daily calls from them with different fictitious numbers every time so blocking a number does not work any more. We never answer calls now unless the caller is on our contacts list.

Google usually brings up an identification but not in this case.
