You'd never make any money on it if properly, fully insured.

OP was July last year and they've not posted since.
What ever they found out, they're not coming back to tell us.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

i understand your issue. your question is not can google deliver fasts food deliver insurances results.
You're after some sort of guidance as to if you need this type of insurance.
I have a similar issue i only wish to delivery for 10 hours a week and am finding it very very expensive to get this insurance.
I believe that most of the drivers for the small restaurant are driving uninsured (a disaster waiting to happen)
I had a long chat with admiral insurance .they do not offer the type of insurance i need but they did say
"Business class1, 2 or 3 does not cover fast-food delivery i will need Commercial insurance or specific fast food delivery insurance"
I have spoken to the restaurant owners and they have normal business level insurance wish is not sufficient at all. i think a lot of the little Chinese/Indian takeaways will be the same and misguided on what they need.
i am trying to find out about uber/dliverroo it looks like they only insure their own.
Currently fast-food delivery would cost me between £150 to £170 a month making the little job on the side a dead duck.
If you work for uber or deliverroo do you have any useful info on their insurance

The employer probably couldn't care less whether you have the correct motor insurance or not.  You are the one who will get 6 points, a large fine and the vehicle impounded if stopped.  Do not use your vehicle for delivery until you know you have the correct insurance in place.  If/when you are stopped the police can see what your policy covers, and if they call your main insurer, the insurer is bound to have on record that they refused to cover you for fast food delivery, thereby compounding the problem.
