New Build - Defects Period

I have just received the declaration form for a new build house purchase and one thing that struck me straight away is the defects period.
The house was completed back in March 2018, and it's likely that we won't complete the purchase until late September. The defects period started in March 2018 and expires in March 2019. Which means we effectively have 6 months of this defects period only.
Is it normally a negotiable thing? I just feel it's a bit unfair!

Defects (Snagging) is usually 2 years, not a year. So you will get a year and half.0

Warranty provider?

I am waiting for my new build to be built still, I believe that after its being built around a year they come and look for cracks etc that you want them to fix, so it may be that, that the form is regarding. However they are liable for the first 2 years, so you would get a year and a half.
I looked on the NHBC website after I saw your reply and they state if anything is wrong in the 2 years go to the builder.0 -

I may have found the issue... The 10 year warranty provider is Premier and not the usual NHBC, and also, as it's shared ownership, I'm assuming it falls under 'Social Housing' of the below paragraph:
During the first 2 years of cover for New Homes, known as Defects Insurance Period (1 year for Social Housing Warranty cover), if you do find any problems with your home, it will be up to the developer to put things right. Make sure you keep hold of their details once you've bought your home and speak to them about the process of reporting problems.
In this case, I'm assuming there's nothing I can do then...?0
