When GB Energy folded, the Co-Op took over the customer base and honoured the tariff GB Energy offered.

That was a marketing decision that Co-Op Energy made. Given the opinions expressed about the 'unsustainable' nature of Iresa contracts, it could well be that nobody wants to repeat that mistake.

I got hit before with this with GB Energy, I stayed with them whilst the process completed and in the end the merge to Coop energy was seamless, they even honoured the existing tariff, once it ended the offer wasn't so good, so I just moved supplier in the normal way.

Even if the new supplier doesn't honour the current Iresa contract, its boiling hot outside & my heating has been off for months and my energy usage, like most households is the lowest at this time of year, so a few weeks on another tariff isn't going to cost £100's whilst I look around for something better. If it is going to happen then I'd rather an energy company goes bust when its 32c outside rather in the middle of December!.

No reason to panic and jump ship, if it gets sorted in the same way as GB, then the process which is in place for dealing with this kind of thing works.

I've downloaded copies of my recent bills from Iresa's portal and also taken a dated photo of my meter reading this morning, I don't expect any problems but if there is, that should be more than enough to indicate the current account credit and meter reading situation at the time they ceased trading.
