Eon putting up barriers to switching tarriffs

Finally persuaded mum to change tariffs and although there are smaller suppliers that will cost her less, she wants to stick with Eon.
Picked a tariff that will see her monthly dd decrease but we can't change to it as it's not giving us the option to pick it, even though we're signed into her account.
Phoned them and they said it was a known glitch but if we wanted to change to the one we've chosen then, as it's an internet based one, we have to do it online. We were told that if we went through uswitch then we'd be given the option to put in our existing customer number - which we weren't.
Can anyone offer any ideas on how to proceed with this please?

Hello gettingtheresometime and it looks like you've been told the wrong thing. There isn't a glitch and I'm sorry you were told this.
From what you've said, I think you're interested in our Go Online tariff (version 15). This is only available through Price Comparison sites like uSwitch and the CEC here. If you pop your mum's details in as requested by the site, her account will be picked up here and the tariff changed to the one she chooses. She'll also be able to see other tariffs both with us and with the other suppliers.
Hope this is useful gettingtheresometime. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

Have you tried this sites Cheap Energy Club ?
I never put a consumer ref in when switching - address is all that is needed.
A double check - you are assessing the benefits by using ACTUAL consumption in kWh's about 12 months apart and not the DD she has been paying aren't you ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Yes it is that tariff she's interested - full marks :rotfl:.
So are you saying if she puts in her details you'll know that she's your customer ? If that's the case why does she need to put her bank details for the dd?Have you tried this sites Cheap Energy Club ?

Yes I used the cec to work out which one was cheaper for her but she won't go to the one that actually more cheaper (don't even go there!)
- this was the best I could persuade her to go to!0 -

I wasn't thinking of the cheapest but of a way of selecting the Eon tariff you want.
Have you managed to switch to that tariff ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

That's right gettingtheresometime. We'll pick up her existing account from the information entered.
One of the conditions of this tariff is payment by Monthly Direct Debit. To make sure all customers who want this tariff, both new and existing, meet this condition the payment box is a required field.
Hope this explains. Please let me know if you need any more details.

If it helps, gettingtheresometime, I have to input DD details switching tariffs with my existing supplier through the CEC too. I think it might be a catch-all to cover people who are switching suppliers as well as tariffs. These third party only tariffs seem to be the best deals around at the moment. Well done for getting your mum to save money.0

Spot on Smodlet. It is a catch-all for anyone either joining us through a Price Comparison site or an existing customer changing tariff that way.

Out of interest would the £30 exit fee be waived for an existing E.on customer changing tariff from Go Online tariff (V14) to (the slightly cheaper) V15?
Thanks in advance, Scrounger0 -
An EON rep, Helena, stated on another thread in Nov 2017:
"You won't be charged an exit fee when you move house, or if you change from one E.ON tariff to another."
I too would appreciate a reply from Malc about whether switching to from one EON tariff to another via uSwitch incurs the exit fees. Surely not!

Hello Scrounger and no; exit fees don't apply when moving from one of our tariffs to another. They only kick in when changing supplier outside of the renewal period (49 calendar days before the end date on a fixed tariff until 20 working days after).
You can move from version 14 to 15 of our Go Online tariff without exit fees.
Hope this explains Scrounger. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.
