Often the valid from date will be the same as the date of passing the test, but not always.
I have recently had to replace my paper licence with a photo one.
The date for the car category for is <1975, because I had a council issued licence before the DVLA issued one.
For motorcycles it is 1982, which was when I passed the motorcycle test.
For AM, it is 2018, when they issued the licence.0
