Without boring you with the details it actually would solve our problems, the wall would run along there extention but build on our land, make it a feature for the patio

So built on top of the beautiful new patio stones you were so anxious to protect by not allowing your neighbour to erect a fence alongside them? Riiiiight.

I'm sure your neighbours will be thrilled with a wall run alongside their extension wall with a two-inch gap between them to collect all sorts of debris and moisture. In a few years your neighbours will be on here seeking advice on claiming the cost of putting right the damp caused by your wall.

I knew it would come down to this:

"I've decided to put up a fence to protect my property."

"OK then, I'll put up a wall to hide your fence."

There will be losses on both sides.

P.S. Will your patio provide adequate footings for a wall? Perhaps you will think this a funny question too?

    Aylesbury duck is right, though.

The maintenance issue is exactly what I was warning about for a future extension on your land. You're bringing the problem straight forward by proposing to build another wall.

I'm not sure how that avoids your patio, given that it needs larger footings than a fence.
