Good morning everyone
Lovely and sunny here again. I've been busy pulling out the weeds between the paving stones at the front of the house this morning...they were annoying me but I haven't had time to do them.
I need to go into town later to pay a bill and get some bits in Home Bargains. Then I'm planning to sit in the sun and start a new book. I'll choose one on my kindle as I'm going to Newcastle on the train tomorrow and can read it then. I find the kindle handy if I'm on a train, but much prefer holding a 'real' book.
JackieO - my eldest DD is in the same situation as your grandson....just graduated and applying for jobs. She has a couple of 2nd interviews with companies she really wants to work for....but has no idea how many other people have reached the same stage. She's taking the same attitude - ' it's all good experience.'0 -
Morning lovely people,
Nelski,DHs van is waiting for a part for the air con,he's been waiting a couple of weeks now, apparently they can fit it on the 6th Aug ,another 2 weeks!
yeah Rosy apparently there is a nationwide shortage of air con gas  maybe we should warn the preppers
Now heres a starter for 10 ....was it a FOC re gas or something far more painful to the purse this morning?
You got it .....its a dead compressor ...oh joy  booked in tomorrow for £350 worth of work....I cant even not do it as it would fail the MOT apparently.
Small success with the dash cam hard wire though so at least I can film them eating my money tomorrow :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon campers :hello:
I'm late to the party again, well I suppose someone has to be, so it might as well be me
It's a beautiful day, the sun is shining again :T. I don't enjoy the overcast, grey skies even when it's hot.
This morning we have visited the timber yard and returned triumphant ! 12 x 8ft pieces of wood . Now Mr Fix It is questioning his calculations and thinks we may need more.
I called in next door to the wood place, it's Al*is, for some supplies as the DGC are coming later and will stay for tea because DD has an appointment and DSIL is driving her to Cardiff.
I have done one load in the WM and emptied and cleaned the kitchen bin. The DW has also been emptied and now we are having " five " till the whirling dervishes arrive :rotfl:.
Tea tonight will be roast chicken, veg, yorkies and gravy, but with chips as the DGC don't "do" potatoes, roast or boiled . For pudding I have bought some cup cakes......naughty I know and not very OS, but I haven't got the energy to make them
.
We still haven't had the broadband fixed yet, it's usable, just slow, but we want what we are paying for .
Gers I'm sorry that your Mum has had a set back, I hope she picks up soon. Please take care of yourself too.
Nelski ouch ! We are never in the camp of "cheap" either, it's always "expensive".
Csarina I hope the tablets work for you, take it easy. I once pulled my back and it took 6 weeks to heal.
Speky can I order my hat now ? :rotfl:
dp1 I'm with you on holding a real book
Hester I hope all is well with your DD now.
Ok I'm off to lock up the food cupboards and fridge/ freezer as the DGC are due to arrive soon
Take care all and I shall send everyone a hug today.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Have just made a couple of lemon drizzle cakes - one for an order & one for my colleagues - and am just enjoying a breath of tepid air while hanging washing, before going off to Bedfordshire after my early clock-in this morning
Gers hope your mum picks up today xx
Nelski I got away with the service & antibac treatment on my aircon the other day... but they also told me I need new rear brake discs....am going to tot up how much has been spent this year as part of my argument for a new-to-me car
although DH will say "but it will be like driving a new car with all the new bits" - err, no its not. He gets a new car every 3 or 4 years...I've had that one 8 and a half years now!

Still no word on DD's baby arriving so baked a dozen breakfast granola bars this morning and just about to wrap them in foil and freeze.
Library volunteering this afternoon was busy and it was so hot I decided not to go to fat club this evening and just get the bus back which would have been a really good idea if I did not have to wait nearly an hour for two busses to arrive at once.
I got home and had lots of water and some baked fish and air fried chips and then put my feet up in front of a fan and have been watching tv . Tomorrow morning if it is not too hot I will bake another dozen granola bars to freeze for DD and SIL and get the two big bedrooms upstairs ready for DD's in laws to visit in the next week or so.
Hugs to all0 -
[QUOTE=SpekySquarehead;
RedRuby - Where did you get the paddling pool? My mums on the lookout for a sturdy one.
[/QUOTE]
We got it in Sainsbugs it was about £8 its not a huge one or very sturdy but fine for Evie who is jack Russell sized.
By the way I often shop in Waitrose the food is such good quality and if you are careful it doesn't cost to much more, and as others have said they do send good vouchers xx0
