Invoice from letting agency

My letting agency just sent my an invoice asking for 81£ because they say that last year I cancelled an appointment for a mid term inspection on the same day.
I'm sure I didn't cancel any appointment on the same but I have no proof as it was exactly one year ago. What can I do?

Have they got proof you did?0

Are you the landlord or the tenant?
You don't remember whether you cancelled on the same day but did you actually cancel an appointment with them?0 -
Thanks for your replies.
I'm the tenant. I didn't cancel the appointment and no proof has been shown that I did.0 -
What does your lease/rental agreement say about inspection appointments? Does it allow for the LA to charge for missed appointments? (Remember, the LA works for the landlord, not you).
This might be better served on The House Buying, Renting & Selling Board.0 -
Yes, I asked for the proof and they showed me the invoice of the company that performs the inspections.0

They need proof of the inspection being booked by them with you, and proof of you cancelling it. An invoice from a company is not enough.
Is it in your contract that you will be charged £81 for cancelling an inspection? If not, they cannot charge you.0 -
In my contract there's nothing written about reimbursing them for cancellations.0

They are not "your" agent, speak with your LL, tell him your not paying it as A: You never cancelled and B: The contract does not allow for it.0
