Carphone Warehouse Hard Sell ... Scary!

I took my phone back to Carphone Warehouse for a repair. The girl asked me for a landline number, to ring me when it is fixed. She asked if it was a BT number. I said yes. As she "filled in the repair form" I was harranged by her "colleague", trying to get me to sign up to a Carphone Warehouse landline. He was RELENTLESS. Didnt matter how blunt I was to him (I dont want to change supplier) he came up with incentive after incentive to change. His parting shot, as I signed the repair form was "If you change landline supplier, I can arrange for a replacement mobile phone, free of charge, so you dont have wait for this one to be repaired".

I had the same questions when I recently took a phone for repair. Don't they realise (obviously not) that the last thing you are going to do is simply sign up there and then. I just told them I was with Virgin and I wasn't going to switch.

It must be 4 or 5 years since my wife experienced exactly the same with CPW. They aren't quote as bad as P4U, but are certainly somewhere I would never do future business with.
  • You could have kept him going until you got a brill offer on landline? Then you'd get free broadband too. Then you have ground to demand a great mobile deal at renewal.
