Very useful thanks. I made the decision under a great deal of stress and know that it was a bad decision. The interior and body looked good so I thought the engine etc would be. Not.

I have learned a lesson and will follow your advice in the future after I sell the car (soon I hope) I don't want a car that has not been well looked after.

What I will do is ask my mechanic to look out for one for me.

If you want to buy a car that is well looked after, buy new. A few stamps in a book does not mean it's not been abused.

It can still be driven over a beach all day long, left short of oil, crashed.

All I need to do is wait till my mechanic finds one for me that he has been looking after . He had one last year - cared for by him since new and one careful elderly owner. He lost my phone number so could not contact me. I trust him - he is on a mission to stop women getting done and shows me underneath my car and the parts he has had to replace.

Gone are the days when this kind of sexism was exceptable, men are women are equally able to use google , you tube etc to read what to check for. Likewise men and women are equally able to be ripped off !!

All of his customers are women. He never tries to con them on what repairs are needed at MOT.

Women are definitely targeted by used car con men.

But had you used google, YouTube etc before you bought the car the odds of being ripped off would have been reduced.

I am talking about false MOT reports.

What false MOT? Have I missed something?

It is hypothetical. I did not get a false MOT but it happens - they say so and so needs doing and it doesn't.

    oh god feminist alert people
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”
