Morning everyone,
Glad to hear from Gers, take care of yourself as well please.
Your day out and afternoon tea sound wonderful Nelski.
Warm here already but all windows currently open trying to catch a little breeze, we did sleep with the fan on in our bedroom last night so it wasn’t too bad.
The hedge men did a grand job in sweltering heat, I kept them topped up with iced drinks and lollies which they were very grateful for. It all looks very smart now and we no longer live in the enchanted forest
I will get out soon to see Lu and then hopefully over to see DSIL this afternoon, she had to have another emergency surgery procedure yesterday evening so am hoping she will be up to visitors.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Good morning one and all,
Grey skies in Glasgow after terrible rain last night for my 5-a-side.
No plans tonight, so if the weather is decent, I'll work in my mums garden for a bit. If not, I've some life admin tasks to do in the flat.
Thank you all for the vote of confidence in the girl I went to dinner with. Yes, she had vouchers, and we at MSE love that, but I don't think she's a frugal lass. We've got a running joke now because she shops in Waitrose while I'm searching for YS items. It's early days.
TA - I hope Mr TA manages ok with the new meds.
Jackie - I agree. The more interviews you do, the less daunting they become. Fingers crossed.
Nelski - Sounds like you had a nice day, for a very special and thoughtful occasion. Hope you're ok today.0 -
TA, thinking of you and your DH.
Nelski, great that yesterday exceeded your expectations.
Gers, good news!
My OH has finally finished his lie in, I'll go back to bed in a bit, once I've had a look at the Times.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
The village was without water from early yesterday afternoon, no one advised us to draw water to last, some people did not know till they went to actually turn the tap on for water.
Our friends brought 2 x 5 gallon containers down filled with water which was very kind of them.
I did not sleep well, it was too hot, I had the fan on in the bedroom but the noise kept me awake so had to switch it off.
OH woke me at 4am, theres someone in a van in the close....yes there was but what they were doing we could not figure out, at 7.50am I got a phone call to say thet the water company had delivered bottled water to us. Thats fine and about time too, but by that time we had water back.
A quick shower and I drew hot water to wash the breakfast things.
OH is in the garden using washing up water to water the pots, the sweetpeas blew over yesterday afternoon, the pot was so light.
We are in for another stonker........curtains at the front drawn, back door open till the sun gets round to the back, then it will be closed and the front windows opened.
The chiropodist is coming this morning, cleaners at lunchtime and then I have an appointment with the Dr. for my back, I also need to speak to her about my weight......
Cannot remember whats for supper tonight, but what ever it is will be with salad!!0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off HollySpekySquarehead wrote: »We've got a running joke now because she shops in Waitrose while I'm searching for YS items.
Gers good news about you Mum
TA thinking of you
Nelski pleased you had a good time
Saw mother yesterday, she pretended to be asleep. Well you can't eat biscuits and goodies if you are really asleep. Only stayed about 45 minutes.
Struggling with this heat, but not much we can do.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Holly and Nelski, you both sound as if you had lovely days - it was so hot here we went out for a drive with the a/c on full blast for a respite.
TA I'm glad Mr is a bit more comfy. Dad had those shots and they were really good because it was relatively easy for him to get 30 ml down and plenty of calories in such a small amount.
Judi, I assume you got ff to Devon so I hope you have a good time without too many arguments. As someone who has relied on a husband as a breadwinner at points I get so cross that you have no access to money. Yes, he has earned it but you have done your bit in the home which has enabled him to do it.
I'm waiting for friends to arrive to drop something off. DH is out with Ziggy and I've just tidied and vacuumed before it gets too hot. I slept quite well with the fan on most of the night. There seems to be a bit of a cooler breeze today so I hope it continues.0 -
Good morning from a very grey NW.We had rain overnight and it was still drizzling when I took Ly1a out,but I think its stopped now.Certainly a lot cooler today than you people living down South are expecting, but it was muggy during the night.
I am going to pop up to see old Auntie in an hour, was going to go yesterday but with DGD staying longer I didnt bother, she's a bit too lively for a near 90 yr old! Then I am coming home and getting to grips with the new laptop,I started last night but it's taking a while.Even though its the same make and layout as this older one, there are lots of updated features.Holly- no toast allowed near it ( or paint, glue, glitter that DGD seems to attract to her hands) It can live in our bedroom!
I've taken some meatballs out of the freezer for tea, & will do them in the Remoska.Ice cream and strawbs if anyone wants them.We do seem to be going through a lot of ice cream in the heat
TA so glad DH was feeling easier last night, also hope Mr Fixit is feeling less sick too,Nanny.
Nelski, really pleased to hear you had a nice day with your Mum,I love a good afternoon tea
Glad you've got water back on Csarina, thats the last thing you need in this heat. The next town to us, Bury had a flood yesterday in their shopping centre due to a burst pipe. All that water rushing away when our hosepipe ban starts in a couple of weeks
Good to hear your Mum is improving Gers.
At least you tried with your Mum ,Silver-oldie x
Bye for now, take care xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning all.
It's cooler than before in Glasgow today. As I've had the bedroom window open overnight the heating came on!
DM is still in bed, no early morning walk though she did spend a lot of yesterday sitting in her chair so I think she's tired.
I've got some paperwork to get done this morning, won't take long before I can email it off. Then I may sleep some more, my eyes are reluctant to stay open.
TA - good news about MrTA, a wee glimmer of it at least.
Camelot - your comments about the pool took me back about 20 odd years. The 'Golden Years Club' were the scourge of our local pool. A pod of people either standing around in the shallow end just talking or hanging onto the deep end walls just talking. Then the ones who needed next to the wall and the ones who invaded the roped off area for other swimmers to get in the way of more serious swimmers. :rotfl::rotfl: In those days the women wore flowery swim hats too.
I wish everyone a happy Tuesday.0 -

Tru I also have piriformis syndrome. In my case it's because my spine curves from side to side instead of from back to front.
TA thank goodness they're scanning MrTA sooner. What you are dreading is actually what happened to my friend who like MrTA couldn't eat at all. My friend was given chemo and after the first treatment was done became able to eat properly again.
Nelski I'm glad that you and your mum enjoyed your treat.
Speky don't be so quick to knock Waitrose. I used to tease one of my good friends for shopping there but then I went along to see what was so good about it. I've had more money off vouchers for Waitrose in the last year than I've had from any other supermarket. They're good offers too like £8 off £40 spend. I managed to use 2 of those in one week once by doing the monthly pet food shop using one voucher (cat food was the same price as Asda) and then doing my weekly food shop once I'd put the cat fud in the car. £16 saved is worth having.
I've been to fat class, I've fed the HT, the garden is reasonably tidy....just the house left to do and the ironing. Not really feeling the love for cleaning or ironing so I may just give myself the afternoon off0
